What are the inside dimensions, without the foam or tool pallet?

You really lose 4 inches on the width of the inside vs. the outside? C'mon man. Isn't this due to the foam? Which can be customized? Meaning your ID measurements are off. We want to know metal to metal ID...not the foam.

Do the four pouches at the top have bottoms? Or are they designed so that something in the pockets below can stick up into them?

Yes, the foam can come out as one piece and or you can make your own design with it. It has squares 10x10mm which easy to separate.

Is the outer height dimension 7.8" (as listed in description) & inner height 6"?

If laying flat, the height is 6 and 1/8.
