Das Gerät wurde schnell geliefert. Leider mit einem nicht passenden Stromanschluß. Statt für die deutsche Steckdose hat er einen englischen Stecker. Jetzt muss ich entweder basteln oder mit einem Adapter auskommen. Das trübt meinen Eindruck etwas, da es leider aus der Artikelbeschreibung nicht ersichtlich wurde.

Bought to replace our older Dualit that we have had for ten years because whilst still working well it is looking tired and of course styles change. This one taps into the latest style of using copper for a bit of added retro look, which I rather like. There is a sort of 'industrial,' look about it that is a bit steam punk in its execution. In use it boils very fast and most noticeably - or rather not - very quietly. So much so that you have to be standing right by it to hear it. The lid is a bit stiff to open which I'm sure will ease over time but when it is open the top is clear for filling with an easily read level gauge down the side. If I do have a niggle then it is the manufacturing of this. It's not cheap for a kettle and yet whilst Dualit proudly brandishes the 'Designed and Engineered in Britian,' tag lines everywhere, the reality is that this is not made in the UK. It is made like most things overseas in some low labour cost country. And if this only cost twenty quid then fair enough but when you are forking out close on £120 then I fail to see how there isn't enough slack in that price to enable UK manufacturing to still allow a decent profit to be made. This is a real bugbear with me when 'traditional,' British companies play on their Britishness and charge accordingly yet are actually selling you stuff made in the Far East. Anyway, rant over, the actual product is well made, stylish and works very well. But pricey.

This is a very heavy and sturdy kettle, as you would expect for £130. Boil is quick and not too loud. Bought in 2022. However, for £130 I’d also expect longevity, which is not one of the features. After around two years the kettle began switching itself off intermittently, apparent a known issue with the internal switch that detects removal from the base. We have plodded in with resetting a watching the kettle for a few years. I’m told by Dualit a replacement part is available, but not to the public. A £55 fee and a 14 day turnaround is the only option. So, new kettle for me, £130 or so written off due to poor engineering. Cannot recommend avoiding this product strongly enough.

I bought the copper version of this kettle in Dec 2017 for £113.90. So I've had it for just over 5 years before it stopped working. That's not terrible but I've had much cheaper kettles last over twice as long. The good: 1. It looks and feels higher quality than any other kettle I've owned or used. 2. It's fairly quiet at boiling. 3. The base is also stainless steel on the outside, so despite being plastic on the inside, it looks high quality and is very stable, due to it having a good weight. 4. The kettle is very stable when sat on the base. 5. It seems to boil quite quickly. No quicker than other similar wattage kettles but quick enough. 6. The kettle seems to be an all stainless still construction. So unlike other's I've owned, nothing rusts, inside or out, making it very sanitary. The bad: 1. The copper parts aren't actually copper. They're just a copper effect coating. This does gradually wear off in places and starts to make the kettle look worn and cheaper. For this price I expect real copper, even if that means I have to polish it occasionally. I'd rather polish it than have a flaky coated finish. 2. For something that costs 4x as much as an average stainless steel kettle from a well known brand, I expect it to last a long time. I use a kettle less than many people and have looked after it very well. So, for it to fail after 5 years is quite disappointing. Overall, I would say this isn't entirely worth the cost. For under £80 this would be a pretty good deal. Based on the price of this now being £134.95, it's simply too expensive for something that's only a bit better quality than the average kettle. If it lasted a lot longer then maybe it would be worth around £100, but £135 for a kettle is just daft. If you can get the all stainless finish version for a good price, then I would recommend you get that over the copper or brass version. I imagine the finish will hold up better on that, so it will look new for a lot longer, assuming it doesn't stop boiling before that.

Updated review after 2 years of daily use. So after 2 years of constant use the on/off switch has failed and I’m now out of time to do anything about it. For the price of this kettle and the quality name that comes with it, I would’ve expected better. Original review. No, I don’t think it is. Ok, it’s a great looking kettle and it pours beautifully but is that enough to warrant the cost? My husband didn’t want me spending such an obscene amount for a kettle but me being me thought that a trusted name, good looks and an expensive tag, meant that I was buying well. I’m here to admit that that just isn’t the case with this purchase. It states this kettle uses their “whisper quiet” technology, well if that’s what this is then I’d hate to hear their kettle that doesn’t have this. It’s not whisper quiet but it is marginally quieter than my previous kettle. The outside of the kettle gets super hot so bear this in mind if you have young kids or cats that like to supervise the tea making (like I do). The lid opens easily without having to touch the hot outer lid. I like that it has both ML and CUPS on the water level indicator but it has one one side and one the other so depending on whether you are left or right handed will determine which one is easily seen. I love the way it pours. No spluttering, no drips, just a perfect pour every time. I love the fact that it’s so aesthetically pleasing. Would I recommend this if you’re looking for a standard kettle? Not at this price I wouldn’t.
