This is the best primer Elf has to offer and exceeds the performance of more expensive brands like Smashbox. The formula goes on smooth and requires less than a pea sized amount for your whole face. There is no perfume and for me it did not irritate my skin or clog pores. Rather, using it as a base with or without makeup tends to prevent breakouts. Additionally, the bottle lasts about 2-3 months. I highly recommend it.

I really like this Elf primer. It has silicone in it so it spreads on nice and even. After applying it I allow it to dry for maybe 1-2 minutes. I don’t put it on thick but I put 1 pump plus a tee-tiny bit more. It lasts a pretty long time. In my opinion I think it makes the face skin look better than Elf primer that’s specifically for making pores disappear. So that’s why I use it more consistently than others I’ve tried.

I have never really been into primers. I am not a big fan of makeup, but recently due to break outs I got some hyper pigmentation on my skin ( I have a milk chocolate complexion) so my skin is prone to dark marks but beyond that it is fairly clear and healthy. I take care of my skin which is very sensitive and dry. So with the recent break out spots I started to wear concealer and a little more foundation. I had an issue with the makeup wearing off and even having difficulty coming off to the point I had to wash my face many times. My friend suggested a primer but the ones I tried were to heavy and irated me due to my sensitive skin, I wanted to start buying high end ones but the price turned me off so I finally settled to try elf mineral primer. When I applied it ( small amount) I was surprised how light weight it was. I expected something heavy and for my skin to start itching but nothing. I was able to apply the makeup effortlessly on top of my skin and it glided easily over my large pores. It lasted all day and when I washed it off the makeup came off much more smoothly then before. I tried it again almost every day and I did not break out once, it did not irate my dry skin, and because of it my skin is looking a lot healthier and I am actually seeing my hyper pigmentation fade slightly due to the make up no longer slipping into my pores. I can't believe how this product worked wonders for my dry sensitive skin. I recommend it. But I advise that a little goes a long way especially for my ladies who have oiler skin. My sister who has oiler skin used it and it works great for her and left some shine but this went away when she started using less when she applied it. For those with dry skin like me this is not an issue but I still recommend a little per application because of the small bottle. It leaves a nice dewing finish and I love it!

So I've been wearing makeup for years, but only recently decided to Do Something about the sometimes-often 'melting makeup' look happening on my face when it hits mid-afternoon. I have combo skin in that my T-zone gets SUPER oily and my chin and cheeks do not. My skin is also stubborn in that the pores on my nose are quite large, so you can imagine how makeup might settle on my nose with a double whammy of giant pores + oil. (If you can't imagine, the oil would basically melt the makeup off, but makeup that settled into my pores would proudly stay. So I had weird dots on my nose. YIKES.) I decided I needed to change my routine, which includes adding more products like this. I normally only used a bit of primer (Benefit's Pore Professional) around my nose, but decided I would try out the full face primer to see if it helped. I still use the Pore Professional on top (seriously, my nose is SO oily, it needs all the help it can get), but I think this primer really helps keep it all together, especially on the rest of my face. The only drawback is that the bottle is quite small, as someone else mentioned. The bottle is a bit of marketing trickery, as the frosty container is just the outer shell and there is a smaller container within. Ah, well - I find that with this I only need less than a full pump (maybe 1/2 - 3/4?) to cover my entire face. I recommend lightly patting in your primer, especially around your pores. It's better to pat/tap in your moisturizer/primer vs. rubbing it in, but this is especially key for primer. Patting will settle the primer into your pores more efficiently, allowing a more even surface. You'll feel your skin get more silky, so once you think you covered everything just do a pass with your fingertips - lightly - to feel for any spots that don't seem covered. For anyone who has also suffered from "melting face", "cakey layers", and "pore pockets" here are some tips: - Allow more 'setting' time between moisturizer, sunscreen, and primer before applying actual makeup. It's like applying nail polish, you need to give it some time to dry before you start the next layer, or else you get something that gets tacky and gunky. - Stipple foundation, instead of brushing/stroking it on. Less of a chance of your brush/sponge/fingers rubbing away your carefully laid groundwork. - When all your makeup is done (foundation, colored powder, bronzer, blush, eyeshadow, etc etc. whatever your routine is), use the setting powder. I currently use NYX Cosmetics Studio Finishing Powder, Translucent Finish, 0.21 Ounce , which I LOVE. (Left a similar review there.) lightly mist your face. I currently use NYX Cosmetics Make Up Setting Spray, Matte Finish/Long Lasting, 2.03 Ounce , which the reviews mentioned is comparable to Urban Decay's All Nighter (which is TRIPLE the cost) I know it's a lot of steps, and you could probably cut out a decent amount in the middle, but considering my stubborn oily skin, this is the best for me so far. Love this primer. Just let it sit long enough on your face to sit and it does a wonderful job very light weight.

This primer is an essential for me! I subscribe to it so I never run out. I have sensitive skin and I have no problems with this primer. It does a good job priming for makeup.

Still on the fence about this one, I really like elf products but Im not sure if I like how this one feels on my face, its thick and slippery.

If you try this, you will certainly fall in love. I can bet on this. 1-It gives super bright look 2-Glossy bright face can be easily visible after applying this. 3- needs 2 mins to dry on face. Even quicker for hot summers. 4- quantity given in the bottle is too less so little heavy on pocket. 5- the colour is transperent gel. Not a tinted one. 6- glides smoothly on skin 7- skin on face feels silky and bright illuminating after each application. 8- leave for 2 mins and then start applying make up. 9- the impact of this primer is certainly visible. So i highly recommend to buy. 10- suits all skin complexion. As it is transperent so it does not gives patchy look at all. 11- make up after this primer lasts for 10 hours easily without touch up . But only in A.C. not in a sweaty weather.
