I have a Medium and I'm not really even close to filling it out. I'd say Large to play it safe but if you're planning on losing weight the Medium will be comfy, too. **Q: How comfortable is this vest in 80s and 90s or more high heat temperatures? How many zipper pockets are there total?** A: I have 2 of these and have worn them with temps in the 80s - both for excursions (canoeing, etc) and around town as a lightweight over-garment w/pockets. Doesn't often get way up into the tropical 90s where I live & frequent - not yet, anyway! - so don't know about that. I think this vest wouldn't be as cool as a see-through, breeze-through mesh vest ... but on the plus side, it holds shape better than those do, and can double as a cooler-weather layer too. Conceivably on a super-hot day you could wear this vest with nothing underneath, as a sort of sleeveless T that zips open in front. The garment launders nicely; just pop it in with the rest of your clothes.
