It stops the majority of deflected passes and missed shots and folds up quickly against the pole for times when we are not using the court (which is usually when we don't have kids, nephews and nieces and others who like to play basketball over). I was concerned that the yard guard might not look attractive but it looks fine. We are very pleased with this purchase after a couple weeks usage and have only had one ball make it to the poison ivy - that from an attempted bounce shot in the game Horse.
