Great product!!!
I was very skeptical but purchased two of these Leak Frogs as I have hardwood kitchen floors with potential for serious water damage if a sink, dishwasher or icemaker were to leak. Even though the product recommends against putting the device in a closed cupboard I placed it under my kitchen sink behind closed doors. Less than a month after my purchase I was working at my sink when I heard a VERY loud and impressive alarm sound. Sure enough, my sink pipe had started leaking and the cupboard had a small amount of standing water in it (soon to be a lot more!). This product worked great and was easy to hear even in a closed cupboard. I have now ordered four more of them for my other sinks, behind my fridge and my clothes washer and I may consider even more. I highly recommend this inexpensive device. Well worth the cost! 9/24/2018 Update...10 years after my first review the leak frog water alarm sounded as soon as the water supply line to the toilet started dripping. Since this is a bathroom I never use this could have continued to leak over a very long time causing significant damage to flooring, downstairs ceiling, etc. I love these alarms!!!!!

Cute little buggers
I purchased three of these as I have at least that many locations I want to be sure aren't getting wet from leaky plumbing. I tested all three when I got them, and they work great. Very sensative to minimal amounts of water. There's a nice reset button on the top of these which stops them from alarming but will keep alarming until the sensor contacts have been dried. I've placed each of these on a small pad of paper toweling to better allow water nearby but to wick to these sensors possibly more quickly than just sitting on the bare surface. So far no leaks found, but when or if they do occur, I feel confident that these cute little critters will let me know before any water leak has time to do too much damage. I also considered the more "sensor-ish" looking versions, but I decided these whimsical creatures were just as effective as any of those, and they're conversation pieces if people ever notice them.

Leak Frog Saved Us!
LEAK Frog LF001 Water Alarm Just three weeks before Christmas disaster struck. Our humidifier system failed and flooded our first floor utility room and dining room. We dreaded the amount of work and aggravation that lay ahead of us (we had gone through a similar crisis just 2 1/2 years before when our water heater died and we knew what we were in for). Moving heavy dining room furniture, pulling up wet rugs, ripping out soaked padding, baseboards, sheetrock walls and fiberglass insulation, days of drying everything out with industrial dehumidifiers and fans, then repairing, replacing, painting, and moving all the furniture back in place we got the house together just two days before Christmas. I decided then and there this will never happen to us again. I went to Amazon.com, did my research, read the reviews and decided to order the Leak Frog LF001 Water Alarm. I received the Leak Frog just in time to wrap him up as a Christmas gift for my wife. The minute she unwrapped him she told me to put him right to work in the Utility room which has caused us so much grief. Well not three days later, we were just about to leave the house through the garage and we heard it. You guessed it, our little Leak Frog was sounding the alarm. The humidifier system had failed again! The difference this time was we were able to stop the problem just as it was starting. I was able to shut off the water feed to the humidifier system until the plumber came to make repairs. Just a small amount of water on the floor set this little guy off and it dried up within an hour. Little Leaky saved us! Saved our house, our belongings and our sanity. I know we would have lost it if we had to go through another flood just days after getting the house back together. Well we've bought five more Leak Frogs since then and put them to work all over the house. In all the bathrooms under sinks and toilets, in the laundry room, and the kitchen. Don't let the cuteness factor of these little frogs fool you. They really work. They are extremely sensitive to even small amounts of water. The alarm sound while not blaring is still plenty loud to hear throughout the house when there is trouble. We are sleeping much better now knowing our little army of Leak Frogs is on the job.

Cute and reliable!
I bought this for my elderly Mom's bathroom as she flooded it a couple of times when she left a towel in the sink with the water running. A couple of days after I placed the frog on the bathroom floor by the vanity, the alarm went off. My sister went in to investigate to find the water running all over the floor. If the frog didn't alarm her to this fact, she would have had another couple of days to cleaning up. This is a great device to alert you of water flow where it shouldn't be. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who have experienced water damage due to overflowing issues.

Simple effective product engineering
I tested it by pouring some water on the floor. It took a few minutes for the water to seep under the Frog and set it off, but this ain't too bad. The alarm didn't seem to be very loud, but when I left it going in the cellar, and went upstairs, closing the cellar door, I could still hear the alarm around the first floor, so this is quite fine. What really impressed me is the simple but effective product engineering. I have had another type of water-on-floor alarm, a control box with a 6 foot wire and a small sensor at the end of the wire. Mounting the other type is a small project. Mounting the Frog can't be simpler -- just put him on the floor. And with the other type, the stiffness of the lead wire can overcome the weight of the small sensor, so if the wire is twisted a little, then it will be a bend in the wire which rests on the floor, with the little sensor up in the air on the end of the wire. Froggie doesn't have this problem, since he has good weight and just sits on the floor. About the only downside to Mr. Froggie is that your kid may think he's cute and take him off to the toybox, where he will remain cute but will then be totally useless as a water-on-floor alarm.
