Incredible

I researched juicers in great depth because I was so dissatisfied with my two very expensive juicers. I wanted something more reasonable to clean and without having small parts fail because of bad design.I saw this juicer often in my research and simply passed over it without investigation because it looked like a little plastic toy. I imagined a huge labor to crank it, little juice produced and a huge mess from a badly made piece of junk.I returned to consider it seriously when I realized that neither of my expensive juicers would handle wheatgrass well.I was so amazed at how wrong I was about this incredible appliance. Genius! Elegance in concept, precision in design, mastery in manufacture, just really lousy in marketing to convey how outstanding this juicer is.It is so easy to assemble and a breeze to operate. Cranking is easy and none of the miserable bearing down to get things into the process, no heavy machine to hoist into position. It takes everything and produces juice quickly with little to no foam. The main reason to juice at home is to have super fresh juice, but I was unwilling to spend 45 minutes a day just to clean a machine and never really get it clean no matter how much fuss, having to spread out plastic to contain the mess during juicing, cleaning up the sink and area after juicing, and more frustration just to have fresh juice. I made it once a week and let the nutrients degrade because it was better than no juice at all. This little gem of a juicer really only does take a minute to rinse out, nothing gets lodged anywhere or embedded and there is no staining. It is made of polycarbonate, not an inferior plastic. Cool, too, that you can see the juicing through the transparent tube. Can't say enough about this. The price is incredible, considering it juices faster and better than the $600 juicer I just returned. I just gained back my counter space where that heavy thing had its zillion parts drying after an ordeal in the sink. This was really my last hope in my efforts to make juicing work here. I didn't think it would work but I knew Amazon would stand behind me and make a return easy if things didn't work out. I was pretty sure I was buying junk but took the risk anyway. I am just amazed, amazed that it works so brilliantly.Just made a fabulous juice out of everything I could think of to see how versatile it is.I could not fault the machine at all for any of the problems people reported in the bad reviews. It does not drip if you place the catch basin under the hole where the juice comes out. A small bit of juice comes out of the pulp discharger at the very beginning, that is normal. The suction to the counter surface is effortless and super strong, never needed the clamp. A very small amount of foam is created, not the mounds of foam with the other machines. It is a delicious treat spooned out of the screen while juicing.I make a nutritious, delicious jar of juice every morning in the same amount of time it takes to make a salad. Most of the time is in cleaning the vegetables, not in juicing or cleanup. I find it to be a relaxing and pleasant experience with fresh fragrances, tastes, sights and textures, quite apart from the health benefits.Thank you to the folks who developed this and to Amazon for making it so easy to obtain.UPDATE: I have been using this little marvel long enough to have incorporated it into my lifestyle, or, rather, the other way around. Getting the vegetables ready, juicing and getting everything tidy to be ready for doing it all over again tomorrow is not an ordeal as it was with my Omega and Tribest monsters. I feel now that juicing is "my time" like slipping into a bath with candlelight and a glass of wine. Instead of getting tense and needing to get through it as a chore, being with the fresh ingredients and the quiet motions is something I enjoy and, oh, I get the juice too.My horrible prior juicing chores were about getting it over and getting the juice. Like a commute during rush hour with the unavoidable frustration and tension. To carry the metaphor, this Healthy Juicer is like a walk in the woods, not done to get somewhere regardless of the misery, just done for the enjoyment of nature.I have arranged my semi-weekly shopping and daily schedule around this wonderful enjoyment. I treat myself to sips of power juice to keep up my stamina doing heavy outside work and lifting weights. I feel more energetic and keen-minded than I have in many years.Today I juiced organic spinach, chard, romaine, parsley, grapes, apples, limes, celery, carrots, clover sprouts, broccoli, alfalfa sprouts, wheatgrass, beets... and I raised my glass to the inventors of this juicer.

Very Nice Juicer

It took about 2 weeks to get here after ordering - a week before shipping and a week in transit. Now that it's here, it's a pretty nice juicer. This is my first juicer. We decided to give this a try before investing more money in an electric juicer. What's in the box? Suction juicer base, clear plastic hopper/body, green plastic end cap with O ring, 2 little white end caps, screw core with white plastic bushing, crank handle, plastic cup, screen for plastic cup, 2 extra O rings, 1 extra white plastic bushing, pusher for hopper (which doubles as wrench to turn suction cup knob), wrench for green plastic end cap, and clamp. I say plastic, not sure what the exact materials are, but this is fairly heavy duty stuff.I've been juicing mostly vegetables with it, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, and also tried a grapefruit and an orange. Works great on these. I cut up the potatoes and onion into french fry size, but carrots and celery I just feed whole. I've found that, if instead of just dropping the stuff in the hopper, if you just feed with one hand as you crank with the other it works really well. I think overall it works faster than cutting up the veggies small enough so they'll self feed. I'm sure this could cut off or crush a finger pretty easily so be careful of getting your fingers down too far. I've found if you feed the larger end of carrots or celery first you can just let go when you get to the smaller end and they'll self feed.I made the mistake the first time of having the cup underneath where the pulp comes out. If you call the side with the suction cup knob the front, the proper place to put the cup is in the back with the protruding part sticking under the crank handle side. That's where the juice comes out. You need your own bowl to catch the pulp that comes out the other end.The pulp comes out pretty much juiced out. I'm pretty impressed by how well it gets the juice out. I tried putting the pulp back through to see if I could get more juice out. I thought this was working but have since concluded that the pulp was acting almost like a sponge soaking up the juice that had already been extracted and was on its way to drip out and the re-pulp was not adding any more juice. Also re-pulping was very messy and made clean-up harder. The screen does a great job to make your juice pulp free if you want it that way, but you have to let gravity do the work. If you push down on the slush you'll end up pushing pulp through the screen. Of course if you don't mind pulp you can leave the screen off. (Here, of course, I'm talking about tiny little pulp that comes out with the juice, not the major juiced out pulp that comes out the other end.)Clean-up is pretty easy (when you don't make a mess re-pulping). Rinse out the screen and cup. You have to stuff a napkin where the juice comes out because another few drops come will inevitably come out when the cup isn't there. Remove and rinse off the little white nozzle. Remove and rinse off the green end cap (don't lose the O ring). Remove and rinse off the screw core. There is a removable bushing on the screw core (on the handle end). Stuff gets under there so take it off the screw core and rinse. Rinse out the hopper unit. (You need to unlock the suction cup for the hopper to slide out.) Carrot juice does seem to stain the screw core and the white tips a bit, but I don't think that's anything to worry about.I've only used the suction cup so far. I did yank it off the counter the second time I used it when it was hard to turn, but I've since learned not to feed it with too much at a time. I just let it cut off a little to feed through at a time. (That is the screw will cut what your feeding into it off in just the right amount.) Also, when I'm pulling up on the handle and it is harder to pull I will hold down the unit to be sure.Overall it's a nice product and I highly recommend.ps I thought I should try something soft since this says it's a wheatgrass juicer. The closest thing I have to wheatgrass I figure is spinach. I ended up putting a good handful through, but no juice! I send a carrot through after and the juice that comes out is green. Not sure how much is spinach juice.I notice that there is some play in the fit of the screw core. It has room to move from front to back. I cut a plastic washer out of a plastic milk jug and put that between the bushing and the screw core. It's a really nice fit now. I try the spinach again. Still no juice. (There's a juice slush in the screw core area, but no juice is flowing out.) Maybe spinach has no fiber to squeeze like wheatgrass does. I have some lettuce to try. Hey, the lettuce actually juices!I don't know if any conclusion can be made from this how wheatgrass will do, but the milk jug washer is a very good improvement.
