A good book for emotional and sensitive people
Amazon delivered thhis book through Indian Speed Post which is the first time they did. I got the book in a good condition. Coming to the book, I had heard a lot about this book. I hardly indulge in romantic novels. So, for a long time I did not give it a try. But, I also believe in the fact : " Never say never". So, I thought to give it a try. First thing first - I loved the book. The writing style of the author is easy, smooth and convincing. Every scenario or the situation has been described in such a detailed level that one can easily visualise it. It seemed like a movie going on in front of the eyes while reading this book. That is why a movie was made out of this book but unfortunately the movie was not even a 1% of the book. The plot of the book is emotional yet it will not throw you into the pool of tears. It has a funny element to it. It is not just a romantic story. It is about the various emotions of life. It is simple yet gripping, tragic yet hope infusing. It seems that I will never be able to forget Louisa Clark and Will Traynor.

A beautiful story not to be missed. Read it before you watch the movie.
This book was hilarious yet heart wrenching to read. It's a journey of a woman trying to save a man opting for Euthanasia and on the way, they both unconsciously save each other from different demons in their lives. She saves him from depression and hating his life, and he helps her discover who she truly is. This may not sound as a plot that claims to be of the romance genre, but believe me, it is. Though the romance is in the background. The foreground of the book is Lou's mission to change Will's mind about ending his life through euthanasia. Maybe that's what I loved about this book. The mission not over shadowed by romance. But the chemistry between Lou and Will is very entertaining. It's full of sarcasm, understanding, laughter, grumpiness, bossiness, care and fun. To read the book through Lou's POV was a wonderful experience full of roller coaster emotions. She is a type of person you can easily relate too. She is funny, bubbly but she is also a sort of person you can relay on with closed eyes. But you can't say she is a saint. No, she has her negatives too, but her positives outweigh the negatives. She loves her family, but like every normal human being, does have issues with them too. I especially loved her relationship with her sister Treena. They both fight over the silliest of things like cats and dogs, they are jealous of each other, sometimes even hate each other, but when the time comes, they have each other's backs and no one can persuade them otherwise. I loved the role of Nathan, and enjoyed the development of his friendship with Lou from when she first becomes Will's carer to the very end. This book offers multiple POVs, a chapter for each character sprinked throughout. Though we get a chance to glimpse inside the minds of the other characters, which is enlightening, the book is dominated by Lou. Overall, the writing style is easy, friendly and funny with a perfect doses and description of human emotions and psychology.

Best book ever!
(I want to give this book all the stars in the world.) This book is a Masterpiece! It is one of those books, you know? Books that break us completely, and then put us back into better pieces. How can someone read this book and not fall in love with it?! But the cover and synopsis doesn't do any justice to the inner content. People will think its a happy, fluffy read, No! Scratch that. Its a heartbreaking story. It tilted my world upsidedown. I was an inconsolable sobbing mess. (Not exaggerating at all) Louisa and Will seeped into my heart slowly, and made a permanent place there for themselves. Will Traynor is utterly unforgettable, he taught me lessons like no other fictional character has ever managed to. Without having any second thoughts, I handed my heart to Will. "Take it, Will. Just take it, that's my heart before you." And then I let him rip my heart into tiny shreds, I let him break it, but it was all worth it, I don't regret anything. Will Traynor, you are scored on my heart, and I'll love you forever and ever. Louisa Clark is my Hero. My forever favorite protagonist. She gives me hope, and I love her to bits. Me before you has so much poignance to it-- I was enveloped by a dreary aura for weeks. There is no doubt in saying that this book will stay forever with me. Forever. I Recommend this book only to sensible readers. (The topic of this book might be uncomfortable for some readers.) Also, this is the book after tfios that made me ugly cry. No regrets though. Jojo Moyes made everything worth it. I love Jojo for creating this masterpiece.

, yes!
Bumblebee Tights dialogue of emilia clarke says it all. Given a choice I would vote for movie and their depiction of these characters and their story above this book. This book is sooooo long that sometimes you wish to skip a few pages and you don't regret doing that. But yes, this book is worthy of reading because after all movie is adapted, book is original. Yeah?

I love to read books which will take me on an ...
I usually go by the motto read book before you watch the film adaption, but that wasnโt the case with Me before You. I happened to see the trailer of Me Before You on various Social networking sites and I was intrigued. I watched the movie and I was blown. I was thinking since I have already seen the movie, the book wonโt shock me. I was proved wrong. I will be very honest, I love to read books which will take me on an emotional roller coaster and leaves me high and dry. I have always been drawn to tragic love stories (thanks to my obsession with Romeo and Juliet) so naturally I went ahead and bought the book. This is a story of two young people who are battered by the life. Lou by chance gets a job in Traynor Mansion and becomes a care taker for Will Traynor. Will Traynor who was once a active young man is now paralyzed due to a motor cycle accident. Will given the circumstances is aloof, cranky and obnoxious most of the time to Lou. As the time passes, their relationship smoothes as Will begins to get intrigued with her. Will and Louโs light banter and the way Will teases her are written well and reader gets to see the funny and sarcastic side of Will many times. I have always believed if the author can make you cry your heart out, he/she has succeeded in their story telling. Thatโs what exactly Jojo Moyes has done. For all the laughs and joy you experience with Lou and Will, the author has multiplied it thrice with sorrow. My heart was twisted with a knife every time when Will was miserable over his state. You get to see the characters growing, becoming independent. Lou, who was afraid to lead a life of her own, flourishes beautifully under the guidance of Will. She starts loving herself more. Will who was miserable over his state, starts opening up, starts to enjoy the little moments. The book not only makes you cry, its also makes you laugh. This book is not just about Love. Itโs about Friendship. Itโs a story of Life and Death and want comes in between. Everything in the book seemed real for me. The pain, the misery, the embarrassment faced by Will feels all real. Nowhere did I feel any situation was just added for the sake of filling the pages. My heart has been broken to million pieces over the ending and yet I cannot complain about it. Willโs decision over his life seemed acceptable to me. The book is well edited. The author has given heart wrenching dialogues and scenes. The book is a definite page turner. I rate this book 5 Stars.

A tearjerker that left me weeping in frustration!
For a book that's so highly rated, I was hugely disappointed. The writing is great, the premise full of promise (of an emotional, tear-jerking read!) and then it all goes downhill. Having a self-centred, whiny character as a heroine is kind of a creative license that the author takes in order to make the protagonist's character arc strong. But I'm afraid Louisa becomes all the more whiny and annoying as the book progresses - painfully slowly - to its denouement. Frankly, I was more interested in knowing what Will (the central character of a robust man who has everything taken away from him when he's rendered a quadriplegic in a horrific accident) is going through but the author gives him second-rate treatment despite the fact that the book theme is about choices people make. The author takes us deep into Louisa's frivolous sibling issues in excruciating detail. I hoped that by the climax Louisa would have redeemed herself. But I lost all hope when at the 90% point in the book, Louisa continues to put herself before everyone else. Perhaps, the book does live up to its promise! After all, the title is Me Before You! Three stars seems a little too generous for this book but my rating is only for the potential of the premise and the writing style. The story, which should have left me weeping buckets at the plight of the characters had me weeping in frustration!

Better to have read and wept than never read at all...
5 stars means you love the book, and I did. That said, the ending kinda sucked (will say more on this in a moment). But you kinda know it will going into it, so readers just need to know that and accept it, or not read it. Is it sad, yes. But is it also heartbreakingly beautiful and worth the read? Absolutely. It's kind of like that expression, "To have loved and lost is better than to never have loved at all." That sums up the book, and also the reading experience. First, it's so rare to read a mainstream fiction book with a main character with a disability who is still sexy, dark, complicated, sweet, rawly human, and flawed. Will's anger at what he's lost is justified, and something so few can understand or tap into. But Moyes explored the situation beautifully, showing both sides of the coin: those who are able to live with such a limitation and form a new life, and those like Will, who want nothing to do with their new, less-desired lives. The layers in this novel, and how they make you think, are simply beautiful. I love Lou's character, and how she goes about trying to change Will's mind about his desire to live with this severely debilitating and limiting condition. And Will...sigh. The best loved handicapped person in writing history EVER. I could totally see falling in love with him, too. He's so sharp and smart and witty and, yes, sweet. You KNOW where his anger and sharpness is coming from, and love him despite it. You almost weep that things can't be different for these two. But if they were, would they even have had a shot? Doubtful. From the beginning, I knew in my heart the ending wouldn't be happy. But I kept thinking, "If this doesn't have a happy ending, I am going to be so pissed off." And...shocker!...it didn't. But I wasn't really pissed. I mean, the whole point of the story is that everyone is control of the life they want to live. And when you think of Will before, and Will now, you can understand from his point of view why he doesn't want to live this way any more. Doesn't mean I agree with his decision, but I can certainly understand it. And as much as I wanted to kick his ass and make him want to FIGHT for the love and life that was being offered to him, I can see why in his mind, it would fall short, or he'd grow resentful, or always feel inadequate. A man like Will is not used to being at someone else's mercy. Some people can get over that, others never will. We'll never know (as much as we THINK we'd know) what we'd do until we are in that position, dependent on caregivers for Every. Single. Need. So, did the ending suck? Yes, because it didn't end how I wanted it to. But did it really suck? No, it was realistic. And some readers don't want realistic. They want a HEA despite all odds. Usually, I do too. But this made sense. And I still love Will even more for how much he did for Lou in the end. Melancholic sweetness, wrapped in intelligence, wit, and humor, Me Before You is a read well worth weeping for.

A beautifully written story of life
A beautifully written story of life, love, adversity and freedom. It is a story of a young man -Will - who became paralyzed as a result of an accident. Prior to the accident, Will lived a full life. He worked and played to the fullest, enjoyed arts, travel, music and culture. The accident made him a paraplegic and, as such, he became totally dependent on others for the accomplishment of his most basic needs. From being a Man of the World, he became a prisoner of his chair. He and his parents made a pact on how to manage the immediate future. To assist him his parents hired a young woman -Louisa - to be one of his carers. She was poor, uneducated and without any major dreams of the future. Will and Louisa disliked each other from the very beginning but she devoted herself, despite his rudeness, to making him learn to enjoy the little things in life. He later softened his attitude towards her and became her Pygmalion - opening her eyes to art, music, literature - and they finally fell in love. Underlying all of this is the fact that, if Will lives, his parents and Louisa will ever be free to live a full life. His mother's whole life will be circumscribed by Wills needs. She dearly wants to separate from Will's father who also wants to be free. Neither of them will ever be free. The same applies to Louisa who loves him and, for the time being, is willing to devote her life to Will. Most fundamentally, Will never be free of his chair, of his carers or to be anything that he wants to me. Their freedom depends on his dying but they love him too deeply to want it to happen. Will's freedom depends on his release from his mortal coils. The writer takes the reader through a range of strong and conflicting emotions as the characters wrestle with their dilemmas. It was a very satisfying read. The emotional problems posed were complex and the writer drew me into agreeing, disagreeing with characters, hoping that they would do something different and knowing that no action would be fully satisfying. A good read.

Heartbreakingly beautiful
It has been three days since I finished this book, and I still don't know what to say about it. I decided to read this book after viewing the movie trailer. It's not my normal pick, being that it is 1. a love story and 2. plausible. I loved Lou. She is a wonderful, quirky, lovable character. Will - now he was a great character for an entirely different reason. I loved his snarky remarks. Both characters had me laughing. I'm unsure if anyone has tackled the Death with Dignity topic in this format before, but I applaud Jojo Moyes for the courage to pen this novel. SPOILER ALERT!! ...keep scrolling This is not a story with a happy ending. It breaks your heart. This is not only because of Lou's heart breaking, but because as a reader one feels the loss of Will. These characters are very realistic. It is a story of love, respect, and loss. I don't know what else to say and I have no clue how to rate it.
