INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER In his New York Times bestselling book, Discipline Is Destiny , Ryan Holiday made the Stoic case for a life of self-discipline. In this much-anticipated third installment in the Stoic Virtues series, he argues for the necessity of doing whatโs right โ even when it isnโt easy For the ancients, everything worth pursuing in life flowed from a strong sense of justiceโor oneโs commitment to doing the right thing, no matter how difficult. In order to be courageous, wise, and self-disciplined, one must begin with justice. The influence of the modern world often tells us that acting justly is optional. Holiday argues that thatโs simply untrueโand the fact that so few people today have the strength to stand by their convictions explains much about why weโre so unhappy. In Right Thing, Right Now, Holiday draws on fascinating stories of historical figures such as Marcus Aurelius, Florence Nightingale, Jimmy Carter, Gandhi, and Frederick Douglass, whose examples of kindness, honesty, integrity, and loyalty we can emulate as pillars of upright living. Through the lives of these role models, readers learn the transformational power of living by a moral code and, through the cautionary tales of unjust leaders, the consequences of an ill-formed conscience. The Stoics never claimed that living justly was easy, only that it was necessary. And that the alternativeโsacrificing our principles for something lesserโwas considered only by cowards and fools. Right Thing, Right Now is a powerful antidote to the moral failures of our modern age, and a manual for living virtuously. Have you been good today?
-Have you been good today?- Review of 'Right Thing, Right Now' by @ryanholiday and @hachette_india Ryan Holiday is a well-known flag bearer of the ages old philosophy of stoicism. He has coached and mentored politicians, CEOs and ordinary people in the stoic principles. This is book three in 'The Stoic Virtues Series'. But what exactly is stoicism? Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy that flourished in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. The Stoics believed that the practice of virtue is enough to achieve eudaimonia: a well-lived life. The Stoics identified the path to achieving it with a life spent practicing the four cardinal virtues in everyday life โ prudence, fortitude, temperance, and justice โ as well as living in accordance with nature. It was founded in the ancient Agora of Athens by Zeno of Citium. In this book, Holiday talks about justice and how it's one of the most important virtues of all. He writes: 'The clearest evidence that justice is the most important of all the virtues comes from what happens when you remove it. It's remarkably stark: The presence of injustice instantly renders any act of virtue- courage, discipline, wisdom- any skill, any achievement, worthless... or worse.' Holiday believes that our ability to live by our values and do good is life-changing; it is key to self respect, purpose and success on our own terms. Here he shows us how to cultivate these qualities, and how to embrace the power of owning our convictions and acting accordingly in an era of distraction and dishonesty. From presidents to activists, artists to athletes, and diplomats to doctors, this book draws on lessons from across history and around the world to illuminate the path to greatness as one impossible without goodness. He believes that our values, our character and our deeds determine not only our success but our legacy. My favorite quote from the book is - 'Integrity is not for the cowardly.'

Political agendas
As a longtime admirer of Ryan Holiday's work, especially his Stoic virtues series, this book felt like a departure. The author veers increasingly into political territory, advocating positions like welcoming all refugees and migrants from regions such as Africa and the Middle East. For an American writer, this stance may come easily, but for us Europeans, who face the daily complexities of such issues, it's less straightforward. Itโs easy to express a โtake them allโ sentiment from across the Atlantic, perhaps with an air of moral high ground. Furthermore, the authorโs support for Israel and its political legacy feels reductive given the intricacies involved. These complex matters deserve a nuanced view, which felt lacking here.

Possible humidity damage, bad packaging
The book is good however the pages were a little wavy as tho it has gotten moist. It also came in a very standard cardboard envelope with no protection so there is a high chance it can get damage in transit.
