National Geographic Moon Sand 6 Lb. Sensory Play Set with Castle Molds

Great quality sand. My 3 year old grandson will never get tired of this. Wish we had this when my kids were little. It is perfect sensory play. Soft, clean, moldable. Love this and love that what my purchase helps support. Will order again if this ever dries out but I just don't think it will. 5 stars!

The quality of this kinetic sand is better than the other bulk 11 lb pack on Amazon, which I bought at the same time. The flow of the sand is mesmerizing and it is less clay-like than some cheaper competitors. It has good adhesion, but doesn't get as stiff and hard to scoop as some of the others. I liked that the sand came in two pound bags (just shy of a kilo), because one bag is a good amount for one child to play with in an indoor-sized bin. The other brand only had two 5.5 lb bags, which is too much for use in a tabletop sized container. I bought this with another brand to supply my three year old's birthday party at a park. I put about 6 pounds of sand in each of three different under-bed style storage bins (about 6 inches deep) with tiny toy trucks and plastic animals. This kept a dozen toddlers fully engrossed and having fun for nearly two hours, to the point that they didn't even want to go on the playground that was ten feet away. Only the draw of chocolate cake was enough to break the kinetic trance. All the parents wanted to know where to get it and it was an incredibly easy party to set up. Clean up consisted of closing the bins and loading the car. Hardly any sand escaped the bins! I highly recommend the National Geographic brand kinetic sand over the others, which don't have the same high quality flow. We had no issues with stickiness, staining or residue and it is easy to pull out toys. This was the perfect activity for my three year old's construction truck themed birthday party. Cake topper sized construction trucks play well in the sand bins.

This is hands down the best play sand for sensory activities! It’s soft, clean, and easy to mold, which keeps my kids entertained for hours. Unlike other sands we’ve tried, it doesn’t get overly dusty or messy, and it’s super easy to sweep up after playtime. Perfect for sensory bins, indoor or outdoor play, and encouraging creativity. My kids love it, and I love how safe and durable it is—definitely worth it for endless fun and learning!

This is not kinetic sand. It is closer to real wet sand. And it does make a mess, not quite as bad as real sand but you will have to sweep up after playing. But it won best Christmas present from my 5 year old today so I’m calling it a win. It works great for shapes and castles but you can’t mold it like kinetic sand or playdoh. But again kid loves it so win.

Moon Sand is such a fun sensory toy! My kids love squishing, molding, and creating with it, and I love that it’s soft, moldable, and virtually mess-free. It’s great for imaginative play and keeps them entertained for a long time. The texture is unique and fun to touch, and it holds its shape well. Definitely a hit in our house — I’d buy it again! Can’t beat this price!

This was my first quarantine impulse BUY ALL THE ACTIVITIES purchase. Kinetic sand. I mean, who hasn't played with kinetic sand? Its freakin' awesome. And this is a TON of sand for an awesome price. I was looking at smaller 1lb and 2lb packages for nearly as much as figured - what the heck! Go big or go home. So, ideally, I was going to dump all of the sand into one of those long totes that are made to slide under a bed. I figured that would serve two purposes: 1) storage for the sand and sand accessories and 2) a nice, large play area that would somewhat contain any mess. I never bought said tote. Got excited to give it to the boys and ended up dumping two bags into a bin for one kiddo, and the remaining bag into a different bin for the other kiddo. It still works. They are able to play happily next to each other while avoiding the never-ending bickering while playing too close to each other. I was excited to see that the sand comes with the little baggy of extras. Teeny little castles and pyramids to play with. This stuff is great. Any mess is easily vacuumed up. At 3 and 6, my boys don't really make too much of a mess out of the stuff. They love it. It keeps them entertained for a LONG time.

I bought this for 28 USD in June 2026 and have been very pleased with the product. We probably bring it out once a week, and the kids (2- and 3-year-olds) get about 30 minutes of independent playtime. It holds up just fine. I store it in a Ziploc bag, and it seems to hold up well. We use about 6 lbs during our playtime, and that seems to be enough. I gave the other 6 lbs to the grandparents to have for when we visit. I saw the price is now 40 USD, which seems like a big jump in 3 months, but I imagine shipping sand can't be cheap. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase, but I don't think I would pay 40 USD for it if that is the price from now on.

Kinetic sand has been a wonderful addition to our childcare environment! my daughter was gifted this for her second birthday and though its a little messy , I got a $10 mini vacuum off amazon as well and have taught her to clean it up. She plays with it so often I have gone back and bought another pack. After a year and a half she STILL entertains herself with it every single day for at least an hour. would recommend to ANY one with a toddler who needs a few minutes of peace everyday. 100/10 absolutely one of the best gifts
