Review: Lego Games In General Our family was introduced to Lego Board Games in late 2010, when our then-almost-8-year-old son asked to purchase a couple of them (Minotaurus and Robo Champ) with his allowance money. We were immediately hooked. We've since purchased about 10 of the games, and we're trying to make them regular purchases until we collect them all. The written rules for some of the games make them a bit more or less fun than others, but the charm in the Lego Board Games is that the rules can be changed. The boards can be changed. The playing pieces can be changed. Even the dice can be changed! Speaking of the die, it is one of the more unique 6-sided dice you'll ever use: each surface is customizable (either before or during play, depending on the game rules), and the edges are rubber, making for a nice, bouncy (and unpredictable) roll. On a few of the games, we have found the instructions to be a bit vague or lacking. Unfortunately, Ramses Return is one of those. Fortunately, Lego has posted some video demos on their website that walk through the gameplay of most of the games -- allaying any confusion caused by the poor documentation. (Besides, you can make up your own rules, anyway...that's the point of it being a Lego game!) Ramses Return We had previously purchased the larger set, Ramses Pyramid, which is visually impressive and utilizes some of the same game mechanics as the smaller game. But our family found Ramses Return to be a more engaging game than Pyramid. Maybe it was the quicker, more action-oriented gameplay, maybe it was the smaller board -- but it definitely felt a lot more urgent and perilous during gameplay, and the end seemed a bit more rewarding. Of course, I'm referring to playing with the base rules included with the game. We've slightly modified our house rules for Ramses Return (in addition to collecting 3 different treasures, the winner must make it out of the temple in order to win), and we haven't yet modified the rules for Pyramid, so perhaps we'll find a modified rule set that makes it more enjoyable. It's still a nice looking game, and it's not like it's a complete dud...but if I had to make a choice between the two for entertainment value, I'd definitely go with Ramses Return.
Review: Tough to understand how to play but cool Lego board game. We love it.

I use my toys to distract my nephews. This allows me to develop their motor skills, imagination and teach them some history. It is nice, cute and funny.
