Works on GCM12SD with easy modification!!
I didn't quite understand why this didn't work on the Bosch GCM-12SD sliding miter saw, so I bought it. When I got it, I finally understand what the problem is ... there is, on the back of the laser washer, a keyed hole. That keyed hole is not deep enough. As a result it does not sit close enough to the blade to tighten down the blade. So, the blade will not "catch" and thus spins independent of the motor shaft. Not good, Bosch ...So here is what I did to fix it. I got some of that thick rubbery material that you use to line cabinets and I cut it into a circle (the size of the laser washer). I then cut a small hole so it would fit between the laser washer and the blade. Now, when I tighten the laser washer the rubber material fills the small gap between the laser washer and the blade. Problem solved. The laser still seems to be accurate on its cuts, so all is good. So happy to have a laser on this awesome saw!As for brightness, i use my saw indoors and I have no problem seeing the laser. I love how the laser line is very fine making it easier to make accurate cuts. All in all, bosch needs to fix this design flaw. Until then, use this method and it works great.

Brighter than expected and projects exactly at the kerf.
This is hands down the best upgrade you could get for your miter saw. I went in worried by the bad reviews, but found that it is bright and accurate and exactly performs it’s described function. Comes with batteries in the unit and a spare set. I’d wager that by the time I need to buy batteries I’ll be too old to operate the saw.Installation is easier than a blade change. To use, just operate the saw normally. As soon as the blade guard retracts you’ll have a bright super narrow laser line. The line will be exactly where the edge of the finished cut will be.

Works just fine with my GCM12SD
Works just fine with my GCM12SD. Ideally I really wish Bosch included the dual lasers like the Euro version of this saw has, but this is not a horrible option. I have other saws with lasers and most are unreliable, inaccurate, and go through batteries like crazy because I will just leave the laser on all day. This one is always accurate, and is not on when the saw isn't running so the batteries last longer. Of course the biggest downside is that it's not on when the saw isn't running so it's not very useful for making quick reference cuts. Like a lot of old school finish guys learned to do precision cuts by intentionally making notch cuts off my mark and then working the piece in while the blade is running, so this laser is similar to that process, but just simplifies it and makes it faster. However for a novice who is not used to or comfortable with moving the workpiece while the saw is running, this could be dangerous. It's also fairly dim and almost unusable in direct sunlight, but almost all lasers are, and Dewalt's XPS is completely useless in similar conditions. All in all it's not great, and it definitely has some flaws, but it's useful and a worthwhile addition.

Works with GCM12SD, and is bright if you follow a simple tip
Contrary to some of the other reviews, this does work on the GCM12SD. I'm not saying those reviewers are wrong, just that Bosch may have changed the design of either the laser or the saw in response.Since the unit is, by definition, aligned with the blade, it very accurately represents where the blade will cut IF you always hold the blade at the same height when aligning the piece to cut. That's the one problem with this: the laser is not perfectly parallel with the blade (nor is it designed to be). So, as you lower the blade the line moves. In some sense that's a pretty bad design flaw. But it does mean that the line can actually represent where the edge of the blade will cut, which a truly parallel beam could not do. The trade is that you have to figure out the approximate height where that is true. (According to the instructions that's about 6 inches above the piece, and that's proven about right for me.)I also have a sneaking suspicion that those who find the laser to be too dim are trying to view it while the lower blade guard is still covering the blade (i.e. when the saw is in the UP position). In order for the line to be bright, you need to lower the blade slightly so that the guard retracts. This also brings the laser closer to the work piece, which makes it brighter. The fact that the laser is casting a line by spinning means that the brightness is inversely proportional to the distance away from the wood. All in all, this is probably worth it for the price. It would be nice if Bosch would actually put lasers on their darn saws (they aren't cheap) but absent of that I recommend this.

Works for me...
I almost didn't buy this based on all the negative reviews here, but it works great for me. I question whether all the reviewers here have actually used this. Contrary to what others here have written, it fits fine on my Bosch Axial GCM12SD. I use this primarily in my indoor shop and the line is plenty bright. Because the washer is on the side of the blade you will need to ensure that the line is on the side of where you intend to cut. Perhaps if I was using this outdoors my experiences would change, but I have not yet had a need to. My only complaint about this product is that fact that the laser will not project until the blade is spinning. This feature is common to all the laser washers so its not really a complaint about this product in particular.

Can't be used both safe and effectively if you follow the safety warnings
If the instructions for this laser guide accessory are adhered to strictly, the product cannot be used effectively. When the saw is parked in the up position the blade is approximately 8-9 inches above the wood to be cut. Unlike some saws, this washer is battery operated and only lights u when the saw is spinning. One could spin the saw up with the blade in the up position (activating the laser) and then position the work so the cut matches the projected line, but for two things:1 - When the blade is all the way up the line is projected mostly somewhere other than on the work. The head must bu lowered to 5" above the work (as explained in the manual) before it paints the work. It is at this point that one would move the work into position, except that the manual warns against moving the work under these conditions.2 - Being battery operated, the laser is not very bright (I suppose to save power). In a well-lit room, projecting on rough surface wood, the line is virtually invisible.A built-in AC powered laser, like the one on my Makita, would have neither of these problems. My suggestion, when considering the purchase of a Bosch saw is to treat the saw as laser-less. If the saw looks good to you without a laser then go for it. If a laser is a key requirement, look somewhere else.I will leave this accessory on the saw until the next blade change, then discard it.

Read the reviews carefully...
Bad investment! I should have paid more attention to the reviews. Very poor light. I thought the batteries might be weak so I was going to replace them with the three replacement batteries that come with the LS010. Then I realized that the replacement batteries are probably as old as the ones in the Laser, since they were all packaged together. I purchased new batteries and it made no difference.I, as a test, tried using the LS010 in total darkness and it worked well. I do not recommend using power equipment such as this in total darkness. It's not safe. I only did this to prove a point. Then I realized that the light only works when the saw is turned on. It's not safe to have the saw powered, blade turning and trying to line up your material to be cut. It is a law suit waiting to happen. My wife purchased me a GCM12SD as a gift. Comes with no laser light. She was so happy and proud to buy me this gift. I do not have the heart to break this news to her.Ron B.

Installation was very easy and provided adequate clamping force with stock blade that came with my new GCM12SD miter saw. No blade slippage, good tolerances - just replace the left blade plate and torque down the blade bolt. With just a couple of practice cuts I was able to saw through the middle of a narrow pencil line. The Bosch LS010 is a great add-on to the Bosch miter saws to aid accuracy and efficiency.

Nice simple add-on.
Very happy with this item. Easy to install and works very well. Have only used indoors with no problem to see the laser line. Used on a Bosch GCM12SD.

Great device
Works very well, but be aware the laser is not centered, but will indicate laser on side of blade. Does not work well outdoors on sunny day.
User
Doesn’t work
Initially didn’t work accurately as there was a gap between laser line and cut line and now has stopped working all together. Disappointing.
