P2 DISTANT CAMERA FAILS TO CALIBRATE
My P2 worked beautifully, until it didnt. It started after a firmware update and XTOOL studio update. I noticed the distant camera was now out of focus. So I proceeded to download the calibration tool to run that to reset the camera. This failed miserably. Now when I start a project and the distant camera captures an image of the inside of the P2, it is completely distorted and unworkable. I connected with ctool support and after some back and forth via email they advised me I needed to replace the distant camera. So I dish out $114 for the new camera and it took nearly 2 weeks to arrive. I followed the instructions on replacement of the camera then attempted to run a new project only to have the same issue. I have been down now over a month and support from xtool has been abysmal to say the least. I have updated my ticket online numerous times and initially I get a response, then they disappear and become non responsive. This is completely unsatisfactory for service... Follow-up: A team member from xTool ultimately reached out and helped resolve the issue. For others experiencing similar problems, please note: Do not attempt to calibrate the camera with your device connected via WiFiโthe calibration process requires a USB-C connection to work correctly. After reconnecting via USB-C and completing a few additional calibration steps, my device is now functioning properly. I would like to thank Wendy from xTool for her assistance. Please note that I have changed from one star to 5 due to the help I received from Wendy from xTool in this matter.

Not Good but got better.
Bought my P2 in October of 2024 after having a Glowforge Plus for a number of years (4). After a year of light use the P2 would no longer connect to my software. The software kept saying "Can't find device". A solid red light would appear at startup on the laser indicating a fault. I have been in contact with XTool product support a number of times with no resolution to the problem. They just kept regurgitating the steps in their user manual that I had already tried numerous times. I finally asked for my money back or a new unit. They replied I was out of warrantee and they could not do anything but, there were services they could supply at a cost. This machine was used only a fraction of the time I had on my Glowforge when It broke down after four years of constant use when I was running a craft business. Glowforge offered me a deep discount on a new HD model, but I decided I would go with an Xtool and now regret that decision. You get what you pay for, and this was a $3700 mistake. Update: After this review was posted Xtool contacted me and offered to exchange my P2 for a refurbished model at no cost to me. The replacement was not perfect, but the problems are more cosmetic and do not affect its operation. Long story made short I now have a working unit. I have upgraded my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. The unit operates as expected.

Updated: Machine broken after 1 hour. Customer service came through in the end.
Initial post: Worked for 1 hour and broke. Customer service is non existent. Was so excited to get this tool and it seemed to work well for the bit that it did. Could not be more disappointed with the after sales experience that they provide. Update: A few weeks after I had processed a replacement of this item directly with Amazon who were incredibly helpful, Xtool began to reach out to me directly looking to make this right including offering a full refund should I decide to go with a different product. At this point (2 weeks in) the replacement laser is working exactly as expected with no issues. While I would have wished for a better initial experience, this definitely feels like simply fell through the customer service cracks and that Xtool has put in a very strong effort to make this right. Guessing I'll be a returning customer when it's time to upgrade again.

Not ready for Prime Time
I recently purchased this product primarily for hobby use, complementing my existing Creality Falcon 40 watt diode laser. I was looking for an upgrade in terms of capacity, ease of use, and capability. One notable aspect of this laser system is its unique control format. Unlike many other systems that adhere to the GRBL standard, this one operates on what seems to be a proprietary system. This is somewhat akin to the difference between Apple and Android ecosystems. The primary control is through the brand's own software, which, while straightforward and capable of basic designs, has its limitations and is, in many areas, somewhat buggy. It excels in certain areas, such as engraving on curved surfaces (up to 45 degrees), thanks to its movable Z-axis โ a feature not commonly found in lasers of this type. The product is advertised as compatible with Lightburn, a standard in the industry. While basic functions are accessible with Lightburn, the integration doesn't extend to the more advanced features of the laser. This is an area where I feel there's room for improvement. Enhanced collaboration between the developers of this product and Lightburn could potentially unlock greater capabilities. The machine itself boasts several impressive features. Its movable Z-axis, for instance, opens up possibilities for laser sculpting and 3D effects, setting it apart from competitors. The build quality is excellent โ it feels robust and professional. Unboxing it was a delight, reflecting the care put into its packaging. I also invested in all the available accessories, including the riser base, extended rail and conveyor system, and rotary attachment, which are all well-crafted. To draw an analogy, using this product feels like having an iPhone 15 but with an operating system akin to that of an iPhone 2. The hardware is undoubtedly well-made and engineered with potential for future excellence, but the current software experience doesn't fully tap into the device's capabilities. At the time of writing this review, I am considering the option of switching to a system with a more standard, open-source control system that offers full compatibility with Lightburn. This consideration stems from my desire to fully utilize the advanced features available in modern laser systems.
