Review: Great for cornbread, but not grits :-/ - I have been craving my favourite grits casserole and ordered this bag from desertcart to make for an upcoming brunch. Much to my disappointment, I discovered this was corn meal, not grits, when ready to make. This was totally my fault ordering off of my phone and not the seller or description. I took this as divine intervention to make cornbread. After some digging around, I settled on jalapeño and cheddar cornbread. The quality of this stone ground cornmeal is excellent. It made the perfect (IMO) texture of cornbread. Put a little hot sauce on it and I was in heaven. I've also used on the base of pizza to reduce sticking and it worked a charm. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07GCN6C2R | | Age Range Description | All Ages | | Brand | Indian Head | | Brand Name | Indian Head | | Cuisine | Indian cuisine | | Customer Reviews | 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,255 Reviews | | Item Package Weight | 0.9 Kilograms | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Number of items | 1 | | Package weight | 0.9 Kilograms | | Part Number | 10200231005 | | Set Name | Single | | Size | 907 g (Pack of 1) | | Unit Count | 907 gram | | Unit count | 907 gram | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Indian Head - **Item weight:** 907 Grams - **Number of items:** 1 - **Package weight:** 0.94 Kilograms - **Unit count:** 907 gram ## Images ![Stone Ground Yellow Corn Meal 907g (2LB) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81WYMFTa03L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: is this a coarse cornmeal suitable for making grits?** A: If, by "grits", you are referring to the grits one finds on menus in the USA, the answer is ... absolutely not. That eaten in the USA with eggs, bacon and etcetera is called hominy grits. Not at all the same stuff. Look on the Indian Head website for recipes utilising the yellow corn meal. In fact, if my memory serves me well, there's a recipe on the bag itself. But far more on their website. **Q: Is there a nut warning on the packet?** A: No. Only allergen warning is "may contain traces of wheat and soy". Hope this helps. **Q: What is the expiry date and year on this product?** A: Sorry, its 24/09/23. Thanks, Kev. **Q: How much sugar?** A: None as far as I am aware. Just cornmeal. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good! *by A***R on 26 July 2026* Good product, good value! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for cornbread, but not grits :-/ *by J***A on 3 November 2023* I have been craving my favourite grits casserole and ordered this bag from Amazon to make for an upcoming brunch.
