An erotic, science-fiction horror epic, Hiroya Oku's Gantz is a sensation in Japan, setting the bar for outrageous, shocking, and bizarre manga, not for children or the easily offended! Over 650 pages of mayhem and madness Tokyo teens Kei and Masaru are struck dead by a subway train but awaken in a room with an ominous black orb that gives them weapons, suits . . . and orders. Fighting and endless stream of bizarre alien monstrosities in a deadly game, will they win their freedom or die for the final time? For mature audiences Review: Brilliant, gory madness - Hiroya Okuโs Gantz is a wild, dark ride that starts with a brutal death and only gets weirder from there. After being killed by a train, the main characters wake up in a room with a giant black sphere that forces them to hunt bizarre aliens in a deadly game. The art is genuinely incredibleโOku mixes digital backgrounds with super-detailed drawing to create a world that feels cold and unsettlingly real. Itโs also famously graphic; the gore is intense and unapologetic, highlighting the total madness of the situation. If youโre looking for a surreal story with top-tier technical art and no shortage of body horror, Gantz is a classic. With over 650 pages in each of the 12 omnibus volumes, letโs see if Oku can sustain the madness for over 7000 pages! Review: Great start to this great series. - Great series, seems to be out of print so several volumes are unavailable or extremely expensive. Grab it while you can! Not for children but a great read with unique encounters. Art is engaging and the story while a bit whacky, is self aware and unrelenting.

Good packaging, good book
Got this as a gift for someone who had never read this series. Came well packaged. Might have been a mistake though to buy a volume 1 as a gift. They now have an entire shelf filled with the rest of the series. One of their favorite mangas at least.

Strange story, 3-in-1 book
The good parts of the story are really entertaining, however there are quite a lot of problematic scenes. If you are able to look past it, Gantz is a strange but fun ride. The book itself is very high quality. It contains the first 3 volumes. All pages in black and white, with very little extras. The artwork is stunning, though many of the characters look the same.

If you are into the Japanese Manga genre you may want check out this huge volume.
Even though I have read a few of the Japanese Manga books over the years I am not usually a fan of this type of genre; however, when I saw this huge Manga story book on Amazon (Gantz Omnibus Volume 1 by Hiroya Oku) I decided to purchase it. I found the drawings were great and the story was interesting but very weird. This unusual and strange tale is about a group of people who may or may not have died but are somehow thrown together in uncanny and frightening situations. There is not a whole lot of dialog, but the story moves along quickly as each section of the story is told. I love American graphic novels like Jonah Hex, The Punisher and other action characters, but I found it difficult to grasp the message this particular Japanese Manga story was supposed to relate to the reader. As someone who has been into numerous Japanese martial (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Kenjutsu, Tanto-Jutsu) and cultural arts (Haiku, Tanka and Senryu poetry) I do appreciate different cultural trends, but I admit to not being into the Manga books. If you are into this kind of Japanese Manga stories you may want to check out this kind of story. Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Martial Art and Warrior Haiku and Senryu)

Spectacular series, high-quality and easy-to-read book format
One of the most engrossing manga I've ever experienced available in an inexpensive, convenient omnibus. Can't ask for much more.

Wow!
I had heard great things about this manga but never bothered to read it since the plot seemed too generic. Boy was I wrong! Everything shines here. The art, the writing, the characters, the action, the humor, the pacing, it's all perfect. The breadcrumbs of lore given are so great, they filled me with a sense of wonder. That's what every manga should do and this one is certainly getting it right! Can't wait to read omnibus 2!

Divertido de leer
Una joya de manga. En mi opinion es el manga que mas he disfrutado leer. Hecho Cuando los autores podian escribir sobre lo que fuera y no habia sensura ni restricciones. Sin rodeos directo a la accion y divertido de leer.

Gantz Omnibus Volume 1
The story and drawing are excellent, but I expected Darkhorse to do a better job. Considering the price, I expected the book to feel more "premium" but it just looks like a big brick.

Sexy violence
Great story if you're a cynic with gratuitous violence and a side of titillation

What's not to dislike? Brilliantly inventive, can't put it down, great characters and intense scenario, that doesn't require me to add anymore comment !!!
