Wow. We've had this for a few months now as a potty training aid, and it's been absolutely leak/waterproof; all the water stays outside (and soaks the sheets, but that's OK since the sheets go on top of the protector ). The mattress underneath has stayed bone-dry through a handful of accidents. We love that the protector is very odor-resistant, a quick surface rinse for minor accidents and we're back in business. For bigger messes, we machine-wash it and it's held up pretty well with absolutely no damage or loss of leakproofness. It's also quieter than I expected, basically noise from plastic rustling around has been no issue at all. It does make the sheets on top feel a bit "slippery" (I suppose the waterproof backing is slick and slides more easily against the mattress), but it's not a deal-breaker or big issue in any way.

Nice fit on my queen mattress. If you are going to spend a decent amount of money on a quality mattress then you definitely should invest a little bit on some protection for it. I've had a couple drink spills on it and even though it seeped through my sheets it did not seep through the mattress protecter.
