Why is this only for outdoors?

The attractant they use to draw the fly's in smells like rotten meat. The warmer it is the worse the smell the better it works.

Do these help with yellow flies?

I’m not certain of yellow flies, but it definitely worked indoor for house flies. We eat a lot of seafood here. I placed a few on the fence by the trash cans and the flies preferred the solution over the trash. It caught hundreds of flies.

Has anyone caught any mosquitoes with this trap and the solution?

No. Mosquitos are attracted to heat + CO2. This will not attract or catch mosquitos. You WILL catch a biblical amount of flies though.
