SmartyKat Scratch Not Scratch Deterrent Spray for Cats - 13.5 Fluid Ounces

I recently moved into a new house and spoiled myself with two very expensive, upholstered accent chairs. My cat doesn’t typically scratch furniture, but the chairs have that “cat scratch” kind of texture to them… so of course to my horror he wouldn’t leave them alone and started ruining the upholstery. Luckily it was mainly on the back side of the chairs, and the damage is minimal. Out of desperation I started searching for a solution, and came across this product. I gave the chairs one good spray all over with this scratching deterrent, and my cat has not touched them since. The directions on the bottle say to keep reapplying the spray as needed… but it was almost two months ago that I first applied the spray, and my cat has had zero interest in scratching the chairs anymore, so I’ve never had to reapply. Also the spray did not damage the chairs in anyway… there was a detergenty smell to it right when it was first applied, but that quickly wore off. I’m super happy and impressed with this product and would definitely recommend.

Applied this as soon as I received it and nada nill. My cat is STILL scratching and clawing up furniture and doorways. I have sprayed these tough areas multiple times also. If I could go no stars I would. It might smell nice but that's all. So if u want a nice smelling spray waste your money and buy it. Other than that. Don't waste your money.

When I first sprayed this on the fabric the cat stayed away for about an hour and then he came back and didn't seem to mind the smell until I reapplied it. So for me it only lasts for about an hour before it wears off enough for the cat to return to ripping up my furniture

The scent is not durable, beyond the immediate moment of need, but it does the job. Consistently used it probably reminds the cat that this is not the right place to scratch. It's better than spraying your cat with water, in my opinion. Do you want your cat to startle every time you spray something like cleansers or spritz your hair? This is a good alternative for me.

I have the scratch not spray, and I’ve gone through about half the bottle. My cat is a 7 year old Maine coon (and an evil man who I love very much), and he ruined my last couch, the door frame of my old apartment, and some of the carpet in my old place by scratching. He also likes to pee in carpeted corners for whatever reason, I guess it’s his hobby. Ever since I’ve used this spray religiously, he hasn’t been scratching my furniture anymore. I’ve also started to spray it in his 2 favorite carpet peeing spots (gotta preserve that security deposit), and that seems to deter him from those spots as well, although I’m not sure the product claims that. The spray has a nice lemongrass-y scent that isn’t super overpowering, and this product is affordable enough that I’ll probably keep using it.

Did not work my cats are ignored the smell . They mainly scratched the seat my ex sat on should have been a sign for me

I used this about a week ago to help train my 3 month old kitten not to climb on the curtains. I haven’t seen her climb again since I applied this. Not sure how long the scent will last but hopefully she will have learned not to climb by then. It smells like citrus so I’m not surprised she doesn’t want to engage with it. The smell isn’t overpowering for people. I sprayed it in an open concept living space on curtains in two bay windows (a lot of curtains!) and I can’t smell it.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!! This product is extremely toxic to cats and has made my cat extremely sick. My cat is having respiratory issues and now has started throwing up like crazy, we only used this product for two days. Do not for the love of God buy this product, if we knew how bad it was we never would. Really hoping my kitty gets better or else I smell a lawsuit.

This has got to be one of the best things I have ever bought. We had new stair carpet fitted last year much to the delight of my three cats. The old carpet had become so badly shredded as it had become their favourite scratching place and not wanting the same scenario to happen again, I purchased this not entirely sure that it would work. However, whatever's in it has done the trick and made the carpet a less attractive scratching post. Needs to be reapplied every two weeks or so, but it really does work. 😀🐾❤️

I purchased this product in anticipation of needing it when I moved into my new house with 2 cats. The cats had previously scratched a cheap vinyl-covered couch that was peeling badly so I wanted to make sure they didn't scratch my new leather couch, sofa, section and fabric accent chairs. Whether it is the material, or it in combination with the type of materials, but neither of my cats have scratch any of them to this point. I'd say that it works well, having sprayed it liberally on my fabric chairs for a few weeks with no scratching so I stopped. It may be that they have no interest in scratching the furniture or the initial 2 weeks of spraying created a deterrent that may have altered their behavior. I'll give the product the benefit of my doubt and assume that it did have an impact on their scratching.
