Feature-Rich Smart Lock with Excellent Security Options and No Subscription Required
My son recommended the Eufy Security Smart Lock Familock S3 after using this brand and model himself for quite some time. He has had a great experience with it, especially because it is easy to use, reliable, and does not require a monthly subscription. Our installation was straightforward, and the instructions were fairly simple to follow. Adding users to the system was also easy. The lock can accommodate 20–30 different users, making it a great option not only for a home but also for a small business office or rental property. Each person can have their own unique PIN code, so you don’t have to worry about everyone sharing the same access code.I really like the added security features this lock provides. The built-in camera allows me to see who is approaching the door and sends alerts when someone is detected. The camera quality is impressive, with a very clear picture during the day and excellent night vision after dark. The video is sharp and easy to see, not grainy like some security cameras can be. I feel confident being able to clearly identify visitors whether it is daytime or nighttime. The two-way audio feature lets me speak with someone at the door through the small built-in speaker. I can also view the camera anytime, capture a snapshot of visitors, and even unlock or lock the door remotely when I’m away from the property. One of my favorite features is the palm recognition access. The lock uses the unique vein pattern in your palm to identify approved users, adding another level of security and convenience because there is no need to carry keys or remember a code. However, it also includes a backup PIN code option, which provides extra peace of mind in case the palm sensor is ever unavailable or has an issue. Each authorized user can have their own individual PIN, so everyone does not have to share the same access code. The access controls are another great feature. You can set limits for each user, including specific days and times they are allowed to enter. This makes it especially useful for businesses, rental properties, or anyone who needs to provide temporary or scheduled access.I also appreciate the automatic locking feature, which can be turned on or off and adjusted to lock anywhere from immediately after closing the door to up to 5 minutes later. This gives you flexibility depending on your needs.Overall, this is a well-designed smart lock with a lot of useful features. The combination of a high-quality camera, clear night vision, palm vein recognition, backup PIN access, remote control, individual user settings, and no subscription fees makes it a great value for anyone looking to add convenience and security to their home or business.Since I haven't had it installed for very long I can't actually give you a review on the battery life.My son said he has used it for quite some time and the battery life lasted him about 5 months before he had to charge it. And then the battery was only at the halfway point.

Great all-in-one security, but the palm reader is a bit picky
I bought this to replace a separate doorbell and lock, and it definitely cleans up the front porch. The 2K video is sharp, and I love that there’s no monthly subscription fee to see my clips. Installation was straightforward and took about 30 minutes with a standard screwdriver.Pros:• No Subscriptions Huge win. Local storage is the main reason I went with Eufy.• Camera View. The 180-degree lens actually lets me see packages sitting on the ground.• Build: The lock feels heavy and secure—doesn't feel like cheap plastic.Cons:• The Palm Reader: This is the headline feature, but it’s not perfect. It works about 85% of the time on the first try. If your hand is at a slight angle or if you’re standing too close, it usually fails and you have to reset and try again. It’s still faster than keys, but not as "instant" as I hoped.• Bulk: It’s a very large unit. If you have a screen door, double-check your clearances because this sticks out quite a bit. It’s a solid upgrade if you want to ditch your keys and your doorbell subscription in one go. Just be prepared to have a little patience with the palm sensor until you learn exactly where it likes your hand to be. Battery life is long

The bad outweighs the good
When it's good it's good, but when it's bad its bad. It's super slow to pick up people walking to the door and alert you and i have had so many guests have problems using this touchpad because half the time it doesn't light up. I will never buy a eufy lock again.

LOVE IT! Great Upgrade from our Fingerprint Smart Lock!
Replaced our fingerprint-reducing Eufy smart lock. I LOVE the palm reading feature (so much easier, and more reliable than the fingerprint reader, which was causing me grief after 2 years, as it kept failing to recognize my fingerprints). But this new smart lock is amazing, and the palm reading feature seems to work without any problems (knock on wood).Things that I especially like about this:1. No need to touch the lock (like with the fingerprint reader)2. The Black color looks much sleeker than the old silver-toned lock we had…PLUS, the black color makes reading the back-lit number pad SO much easier to read (our old lock was silver, with white numbers, and even being back-lit, it was next to impossible to see the numbers, especially in bright sunlight).3. Love the locks integrated camera & doorbell (allowing us to remove our separate Eufy doorbell camera, which was starting to get annoying in terms of needing to charge it every 6 weeks or so).4. The doorbell button is easy to recognize - it lights up and has a small bell icon on it (believe it or not, with the basic Eufy doorbell camera, the design is such that the camera lens and the doorbell button are both about the same size and shape, and the button wasn’t marked or labeled — and I can’t tell you how MANY times people came to our door, thought they were ringing the doorbell, but were really smashing their thumb onto the round camera lens! — mademfor funny videos, but not a very effective doorbell if people don’t know where to press)5. A HUGE added benefit of this model is the long battery life, PLUS the back-up AA batteries that function if the main battery dies (unlikely if you’re paying the slightest attention to your Eufy app)…but more importantly, the AA batteries work while the main battery is being re-charged (so you don’t have to leave your door unlocked all day, like we had to do with the old Eufy lock, because we needed to be able to have people come and go).Overall, I truly LOVE this smart lock, and I expect to get many years of enjoyable use out of it (again, knock on wood!)

Impressive and great features
Impressed with all the options and features. UI Is a bit confusing tho and I do agree that the hands/vein technology is difficult to get to work. I’m gonna try creating multiple versions of my hands to see if that’ll improve things like I’ve done with the thumbprint one. Actually wishing I had the fingerprint one still. The video mechanism works great and you can choose different lengths to film, which I really like. I did feel that the battery could’ve lasted a bit longer. It lasted about a month before it needed recharging them but the four AA batteries held fine while it was being charged. This was with a lot of people coming in and out though.Np installing to door (although had my handyman do it). NOTE: after putting it together it will have u press a button in the back wheee the battery is and if u already put the cover on np bc it’s super easy to take off.I did have to try connecting a couple of times. If you have issues with this part and it talks about router settings go to your Internet provider settings online or app and change signal to 2.4 only from dual band (2.4 and 5.0) temporarily and then u won’t have a problem.

Good Lock with integration into the Eufy app for remote control.
The FamiLock S3 works as advertised and was easy enough to install. Integration with the app is great as are all Eufy video cameras and locks. However, if I was to buy again, I would get the version without the camera and get the Eufy Video Doorbell as it has a better field of view. This camera view is restricted by the door jam since it sits back at the door level, but it does provide a good picture to be able to tell who has approached / unlocked your door. Overall, it is a good option, but a bit of overkill for my specific situation.

Updated Review: Impressive product support.
Update: I have modified my review because eufy is going out of their way to find out what the issue is and even offering to send me a new working unit and having me send the intermittently defective unit back so they can evaluate and improve their product. I appreciate their proactive approach and understand that intermittent issues are difficult to resolve. I plan to update this review when I'm able to see if the lock is free from the problems we had with the original.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Original Review:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------It works about 80% of the time and when it decides not to work, there’s nothing you can do to get back in the house. Don’t forget the keys. It won’t lock or unlock no matter how many times you try, even the keypad doesn’t work. If it worked consistently, I’d give it five stars, but a lock needs to be reliable.

Not all there yet.
I've had 3 of these locks for a year and very mixed bag. Must say, in general 2 of the 3 have been working great. Expected battery life and no complaints as it has USB-C recharge. Arguably the 2 that have worked fine are high traffic areas so very pleased. Unfortunately the third is on the backdoor and battery last only a few weeks at best. This has been an issue since month 1 (May 2025) and I filled something out as a feedback/complaint via the app but didn't hear anything back so I'm posting feedback here with hopes of finding a fix. Perhaps it's a faulty battery but unsure. I keep all recordings to a minimum on that camera and battery lasts rough 1/6 the time I get from the other high traffic areas. 2 out of 3 not bad but at this price point I can't recommend. If this gets resolved via eufy I'll be happy to update accordingly.

Best Vein Smart Lock
The eufy FamiLock S3 has been a huge upgrade for me, especially after returning the Lockin Veno. Assembly was surprisingly simple and frustration-free. Everything fit together intuitively, and the instructions were clear enough that I had the lock fully installed and running in far less time than I expected. What really sets the FamiLock S3 apart from the Veno is the feature set. The responsiveness of the fingerprint reader, the smoothness of the touchscreen, and the overall build quality all feel a step above. The app integration is cleaner too, with faster updates and more reliable notifications. After dealing with connection hiccups and slower response times on the Veno, this lock feels like a breath of fresh air.Another big draw for me was eufy’s strong security reputation. Their focus on privacy and local data processing gave me a lot more confidence in choosing a smart lock that would actually protect my home without sending data who-knows-where. It’s reassuring to know the company behind the product takes security seriously.Overall, the FamiLock S3 has been easy to set up, easy to use, and packed with thoughtful improvements over the lock it replaced. I’m genuinely glad I made the switch.

Not universal at all. Very limited installation options
The lock itself seems rather decent but the installation is rather complicated and not universal at all due to only one faceplate (while many places will require the slim round circular faceplate). It's a piece that might cost 50 cent which simply HAS to be included for a 500$ lock! But instead it says to contact eufy if you need one - I tried the chat or calling but no one seems to know anything about it. Now I cannot use the lock or have to do expensive modifications to my door in order to use it.Probably a great product with such a fatal flaw!!!

Deeply Disappointed – Misleading Marketing and Poor Out-of-Box Experience
Update: I want to share my experience with the product. Their customer service is excellent and resolves my issues quickly. The product itself is good, although the out-of-the-box experience could be improved. However, they are committed to addressing any problems. They mentioned they are working on the issues I raised to prevent other consumers from having the same experience. I like the brand, and currently, I own an indoor camera, a doorbell, and this smart door lock.---I purchased the FamiLock S3 because I already own a Eufy doorbell and have been happy with that product. Unfortunately, this smart lock has been a frustrating experience from the start, and I feel compelled to warn other buyers.Installation issues right out of the box: If your door uses a rounded bolt plate (which is extremely common), the included hardware won’t work, you’ll need to contact their customer support to have the correct plate shipped to you. Be prepared to wait up to 15 business days for it to arrive, meaning your installation is stuck on hold for three weeks through no fault of your own. You can try to hack with blue tape while you wait.Missing tool not included: The lock requires a long, thin Torx (star-head) screwdriver to install, the kind shown in the attached photos. Yet it is not included in the box. Without this specific tool, installation is simply not possible. Buyers shouldn’t have to discover this the hard way after unboxing.Misleading product images: The most frustrating part is the interior screen shown prominently in the product listing. It gives the clear impression that a peephole-style interior display is included with your purchase. It is not. That screen is a separate $140 upgrade, a fact buried in the fine print. Featuring a paid add-on as a core visual in the listing is, in my opinion, straightforwardly misleading to consumers.I had high hopes for this product given my positive experience with the brand’s doorbell, but between the compatibility issues, missing tools, and deceptive product imagery, I cannot recommend the Eufy FamiLock S3 in its current form. Eufy needs to be more transparent about what’s actually in the box.

Great choice
Now I don’t need to worry about carrying keys. No worries about bell and camera as well as handling them separately. Only drawback I see is every 2 months you have to charge.

Not recommended for the price and issues.
I always use Eufy products and after reading some of the reviews, I was a bit hesitant to purchase this item. I loaded my palm print and so far it hasn't worked once. The app works great and its nice to have a camera on the keypad itself for added security on top of your Eufy door bell camera. It has a large battery that can be removed and charged via your type C charger and lasts about 3 months. When the main battery dies it goes in limited battery mode using 4 Double A batteries that you put in for added battery life until you can charge the main battery. The 4 double A disables all the features and allows just the lock codes to be entered so that the batteries can last longer which is ideal. My biggest problem is that even at low sensitivity I find the keypad typing in numbers on its own as if someone is there using the keypad. I worry that one day(unrealistically) it glitches and actually gets the right code and unlocks my door at a time when the main battery is dead and all the features are disabled. Maybe Eufy will have a software update or something for us to fix these issues. I wouldn't recommend this product as it is definitely in its early stages and hopefully Eufy can fix all these issues especially considering the price.
