RAPICCA Animal Handling Gloves, Bite Proof Double Leather, 16 in Grey-Black

I bought these 16” animal handling gloves to use in my home dog boarding / daycare business. Thankfully I haven’t had to use them yet, but I like having them ‘just in case’. I think luck favors the prepared. I ordered a few different animal handling gloves and settled on these. I like the thickness of the leather and the placement of the extra layers of leather. For a female 5’5” and 125 lbs, these fit quite big. However they are comfortable and stay on. I feel protected in them. Some other ones I ordered that were smaller for my hands didn’t have as thick of leather or the extra layers of leather at as many places or good places. I would never be able to do fine work with my fingers in these as they are bulky. However I would be able to grab or pick up a small dog or guarded object with them. I think they would protect from a bite from a small dog, medium dog, and warning nips from a large dog. However the bite force of a medium or large dog that means business would still crush your hands, just maybe not be able to rip you open due to the thick leather. I would guarantee that they would hold up to small animals like cats, hamsters, squirrels, birds, etc. Hopefully I NEVER need to test a snake bite on them!!! They appear well made with the stitching with thick but slightly flexible leather. The value is good as I believe they will last many many years used for various tasks like animal handling, grilling, and forging … probably my son will eventually steal them to forge with once he discovers them.

I originally bought a pair in 2019 and am buying a second pair now in 2025, due to my husband unfortunately losing the first pair (Its probably around here somewhere). We absolutely love these gloves for yard work. We live in an area in the PNW that has a green belt behind our house that isnt maintained, so we get all of the weeds invading our yard. Especially sticker bushes or blackberry bushes with thick vines, some thicker than a quarter. These gloves are excellent at protecting our hands from getting those nasty thorns in our hands when we're physically yanking these blackberry bushes and other thorny bushes out of the ground. I have large hands for a female and these gloves are a little big on me, but not unusable. I usually wear a mens Large in gloves. I can grip things well with these gloves and they are flexible in the hands enough to get the job done. We have yet to have any punctures from those thick thorns or thorny bushes, hence me ordering a 2nd pair 6 years later. I need them for some yard work right now and my pair from 6 years ago is MIA. They work great and I'd recommend these to anyone who is using them for yard work, totally worth the money and they last - good quality gloves.

I originally purchased these gloves for handling a particularly rowdy pet reticulated python. They work well with the snake, and I have enough dexterity to handle her while being protected should she bite. That said, where the gloves actually shine is cat handling. We have two cats who hate being put into carriers. They will bite and scratch to get away, and one sent someone to urgent care. These gloves make it easy to get them into their carriers, even if they turn into flailing vortexes of teeth and claws. They’ve tried to bite through these gloves, but the material is too thick for their teeth to penetrate! Best of all, these gloves work equally well for an average sized adult man and a smaller than average adult woman.

The black areas of the gloves are really great protection. I used these to rehab handle a baby copperhead. He was bitey and I had no issue. I'm not sure how well these would do with larger piercing fangs. I think bites like snapping turtles, hawk claws, etc would be just fine. They ARE LARGE, I don't have a problem with that as you generally don't need very fine motor manipulation when using them. I am a small lady with very tiny hands, my fingers go about halfway through. I'm still able to use them fine!

2cd time purchasing. Good quality. Works great for cat bites, also gardening especially rose bushes. Bought this pair for my son who's black cat can be aggressive. He just had his second cat bit which got infected. These gloves are alot cheaper then a visit to the doctor and antibiotics.

Most of the dog training things are sopainful to wear that protection seems a moot point. These are so soft inside, you could sleep in them. In my case, that may not be a bad idea with 2 mouthy puppies of varying age and size. One is Anatolian mix, about 1 year and the other is GSD mix 9 weeks, 15 pounds. Both have teeth that are painful on the arms and legs. The professional Shutzhunde gloves were very good protection but the neck strap could not be adjusted to be long enough to allow them to hang around the neck and still get arms inside. They are reassuringly heavy but you need the strap so they were returned. The one armed device is better but the dogs just avoid it and go for other areas of the body not protected. These are the most hopeful find in addition to the Tippmann paintball gloves even though they don't have fingers. Tried other items but these gloves seem thick enough to withstand puppy chewing even from the Anatolian as he's not really trying to hurt anyone. For serious dog training, the Shutzhunde arms would be great but need addition to the neck strap length. So if you're training a service dog and not an attack dog, these should work just fine and they are large enough for my husband (size 16) who's 6'4" tall and though they're too long in the finger for me, you can really sleep in them should be chewed in the middle of the night on a puppy whim; So soft on the inside - no kidding. I hope they withstand the incessant chewing for the next 12 months. Will update review if not. They were just so wonderful on the owner's side and sturdy on the dog side that I had to write an instant review.

I used this to catch a stray cat and she bite me while using this but I didn’t feel a thing. Good quality and safe to handle animals

Very effective for raccoon bites. These fit my large hands very well and provided adequate forearm protection. Adult raccoons are very scrappy and it's almost impossible to wrestle them without them getting in some bites. These gloves took maybe half a dozen very energetic bites on the fingers without breaking the skin or bruising, and provided more padding than my harbor freight welding gloves, which I had used previously. I would recommend them, definitely. I didn't manage to get a photo of the raccoon actually clamped onto the gloves, but here it is making an effort before the tussle. You'll still feel the teeth but it's better than any other gloves I've used.
