Speak & Spell Educational Learning Toy, Spelling Games, 80s Retro Handheld

This is a day one review but I can say the size shape and playability of this toy is perfect. Takes me right back to 1976 (GenX here). The 8 year old boy is fascinated with it and enjoys the changeable game cards on the back. Perfect toy to push summer boredom away for a while. Would be a great road trip toy. Seems well made and sturdy for a plastic toy. Definitely age 8 and up.

Engaging, calming and fun. Well made for the money. Size is good for kids and adults. Versatile back grounds to change out. Not heavy and is portable in the car, trips. Doesn’t leak water. Will by more.

I am trying to get my kids more toys like the ones I grew up with (70's/80's), and get them away from so much tech! They have liked them, and this one is no exception. It comes with several different cards for several games. I wish it had 2 buttons on the front. The kids and adults sat around at Christmas and someone always seemed to be playing on it. The only other issue was that to get the balls out of the pockets for a new game, you have to turn it upside down, and this means the plug at the top is useless unless you hold it down. Just don't flip it over anything you don't want water dripping on. Otherwise, it is fun to share these "old fashioned" games with my children and see them play.

I purchased this for my 9-year old son because I thought he would enjoy it as much as I did when I was a kid. I loved that it was a fairly simple screen-free toy. While he has had fun with it, I’m disappointed that it constantly leaks. It seems no matter how well we put the stopper in the top, it still manages to get water on the outside of it. We followed the instructions given on the package for filling it, etc, so I don’t know. Maybe we just got a dud. Otherwise it works okay and has entertained my son.

Bought this for my mom with dementia. It's actually fun to watch her play this little game. The brain is so confusing sometimes. Can't remember wait she ate five minutes ago but remembers how to play this old school game. Happy purchase.

Sounds like the original and works well. Only thing different from the original is it’s much lighter.

Nostalgia at its peak. Great option, many educational programs built in. Internet free and safe toy.
