Will this case fit 2 compact handguns?

Probably 2 could fit with the right orientation. I'd have some type of material to prevent them from rubbing on each other. Basing this on the size of my Kel Tec 0.32.

I just got it, and tried to open for the first time, The lock won’t open and the key won’t come out .... help?

You also have to slightly push in on the key. It's spring loaded. The key is designed to stay in the lock as long as the box is unlocked. If that makes sense.

Will it fit a Smith and Wesson 40cal?

It fits an xd 45 full size you will be fine

Is documentation included for calfornia certifide pistol lock box. Law enforcement will look, unfortunate case you have to use the firearm?

I don't know the answer to this direct question...but since California has out their .... what is it, Prop 37 or 87 or something? I don't know if I even have the paperwork on that case, but I can tell you that it has been made proactively to the CA stupid rules. Hope you don't have to find me outside. It is quite a sturdy box. "I can fit my 2017?" The purchase of this box should allow you to mask yourself all while it not being an issue in most states, but I would check specifically on states such as CA, OR, WA etc.
