Jan 18, 2019. Read all the previous reviews and decided to buy the product, even though some of the reviews were bad. Took only 4 days to be delivered to my house- I did not pay for shipping. Price of train is 1/2 of what you can buy it for at a train shop. NOW ABOUT THE PRODUCE: Very easy to assemble. Make sure you connect the tracks properly so the little tips at the end match up perfectly. Train DOES NOT DERAIL. Ran it at full speed with all the cars attached with no problem. (again- make sure the tracks are aligned) Cars are quite light in weight, but stay on the track fine and couple together easily. The "power transformer" is fine, but does not have any connection for accessories- (you would have to buy a separate transformer for switches, lights, etc) Light on engine works according to how fast the train is going.- ok, but not too bright. On the back of the box, it has "layouts" that you can make, and if you look closely, you can see how many additional tracks you will need to buy. The set come with tracks that make a 35" x 47" oval. REALLY GOOD PRODUCT FOR THE BEGINNING TRAIN ENTHUSIAST

We bought this train set as a seasonal item, something to run around Xmas time. And for that purpose it is sufficient and does the job well. Almost the entire set is plastic, but that seems to be the way of the world now. But given that, the train and cars are not for small children. I would say 8 years (a very careful 8 year old...) and above for sure. The caboose has some delicate railings and the cars (with plastic wheels) can be a little hard to get on the rails unless handled very carefully. I remember how my son was when he was younger, and I don't think this set would have survived very long. So, if your child is young save yourself the frustration and wait a few years. The EZ Track was easy to put together and with the addition of a plastic "berm" that is part of the track, it is much less prone to disconnects and problems with uneven floors. An improvement over the "raw" tracks from when I was a kid. Once I had the track set up (lining up the rail connectors can be a challenge) and the cars properly seated, I didn't have any issues with derailing while running the train. The cars are plastic, but have cute Xmas themes (Gingerbread bakery, silver bells mining, etc). The engine is metal and seems pretty heavy duty. It has run smoothly during the time we had it up and running. I think it will make it through at least a few Xmas seasons. It supports liquid smoke in the stack, but the liquid is sold separately, so I can't review that feature. The controller is basic (slow-fast, forward-backward). This train is not DCC enabled. I had no issues with the controller, but make sure all of the connectors are properly seated on the controller and on the track. All in all, I am pretty happy with this set as a seasonal item. If I was a serious train enthusiast I would probably be getting something higher end.

My husband longed for a train to run through our little tabletop Christmas village. I chose this and am glad I did - the cars seem well made and the detail is great. I can see us adding lots of fun elements to the train and village tableau over the coming years. We did not find the track hard to assemble, as some reviewers did, and the cars run smoothly at all speeds. There is no engine "smoke" in the model I bought. And yes, I let him open it early so we are enjoying it now!

My son has set this up around our Christmas tree for the past 5 years. It works great. We purchased 2 additional straight track pieces to make it more round to fit around our big tree better. When connecting the track, make sure the rail slides into the connection pieces correctly, or the rail is uneven and doesn't conduct the electricity well.

I bought this right before Christmas of 2023. I have an ice cream store with a huge front window and wanted to use the train in the window along with other mini houses, trees, etc. The first year we put it in the window, the train kept coming off the track. It was brand new so I felt it shouldn’t be doing that. My husband had electric trains in the past and knew what he was doing when setting it up. Since we were unable to keep it on the track, we ended up not turning it on. It kind of ruined the display as our little customers asked if the train worked. This past Christmas, we made sure the track was on a level surface, we cleaned the track with special track cleaner, replaced a couple areas with new tracks and made sure no obstacles were in way the of the train. Once again, the train continued to jump the track. It would go around a couple of times but never lasted more than a few passes before once again jumping the track. We tried multiple times but it just wouldn’t stay on the rails. I am going to put it in the trash as it’s no use to us as it doesn’t do what we bought it to do. I will buy a new one for next Christmas but not sure what brand it will be. I will also check reviews more carefully. I paid more for the train than it’s selling for now. If I’m going to spend $200 or more on an electric train, I want it to work. I’m very disappointed in the quality of this item.

I was very disappointed - one of the train tracks was broken when it arrived and I couldn't use the train.

Bought used in like new condition. Everything was as advertised can't even tell it was opened. Cars roll fine, make sure the track is in tight and secure to avoid derailing issues. Nice train for a Christmas display.

Product arrived on time and intact. Just a little assembly of tracks and away you go. Bought this for my grandson.

Nothing to dislike about this set. Set it up under the Xmas tree and it runs and looks great ! Just the right size for under the tree!
