Foundation Crawl Space Vent Cover

Great product.. Works as it should.. Looks great..

Every winter, we had to insert bricks wrapped in plastic in my Mom's cinder block 'vents' on her house built in the 60's. All other vent covers didn't fit, because of the center beam in the block. I thought, there has to be another way. And here it is! Easy to install, fits flush, easy to open and close based on the season, and no more stopping up the holes when it gets cold. And with the screens included... no more critters getting in during warm months. Thank you!!! PS. We found the video on installation and also spray painted the inside cinder block black before installing vents... now you can't see the cinder block beam through the vent. It looks great!

My manufactured home has 8 of them already but the pre-purchase home inspector said to get more to minimize moisture in the crawl space. Purchased one to make sure its the same unit as the other 8. It is. Price paid is really high for such as simple device. I will make the other vents I need for 1/2 the cost. No matter which way you go, you still have to cut the metal skirt to install them.

Have been a building contractor for over 20 years. I needed some replacement foundation vents for my own home as the metal ones over the years have rusted and would no longer function properly. Ordered one of these just to test fit and it was perfect except for one issue. When you would tighten down the mounting screws, it would cause the vents not to move back and forth. This was easily remedied by disassembling the sliding louvers from the mounting plate, which took all of 20 seconds. Then I just filed down the ridge on the end of the sliding louvers opposite the handle and snapped it back together. Now able to tighten the mounting screws completely and louvers open and close flawlessly. Extremely pleased with this product so ordered another seven, which I made the slight modification (which took me less than 10 minutes) to each and installed.

To me, these are expensive. $30 each for plastic with screening, and no screws. However, if you look around, there are very few choices to have something that does what this does, which is to replace your existing vent covers on the outside of your manufactured home, mobile home, etc.... with something that simply slides open or closed. The other reason I needed these was their size. We needed the larger height than what some of the others on the market offer. One of the nice features is that there is room for 6 screws. I like overkill - plenty of room to hold this down to the wood underneath. The other thing I noticed was that it appears the screen is actually molded INTO the plastic - like they poured the plastic over and around the full screen - it does not look like it's simply going to pop out. Time will tell on how long these will last. I'm in Oregon, so it does not normally get too cold for too long. Depending on the type of plastic they used, hopefully these will not get brittle and fall apart quickly - but at least they will not rust. Do your research, and really take measurements. Finding the right ones isn't as easy as expected.

I had a tough time finding covers to fit my non-standard size crawlspace vents. I purchased and installed 8 of these. They seem to be strong, but overpriced. I was lucky my house is painted grey. My biggest disappointment is they don't completely seal when closed. See pictures taken from inside my crawlspace. The outside light coming in between the slats means cold air is also coming in.

These covers fit perfect on my crawlspace vents and were easy to install. They do not come with screws for installation, so I purchased matching grey deck screws at the local hardware store.
