Review: A test of marital trust - Update: this patch worked for two years! At the start of the 3rd summer, our friends were here with their young kids. One of them kindly emerged from underwater in her goggles and handed me a weird plastic rubbery thing that she found stuck to the bottom of the pool. I don’t know if she pulled it off or if it was loose and floating. So, we repeated the processes outlined below. We are hosting our son’s grad party in a month and I have a feeling the patch won’t last the event, so we will likely be patching again, but we are basically experts now. Ok, so when it says you can use this underwater, be thoughtful about where under the water you need to use it. We realized after opening our pool that we had a tear on the floor of the liner. My husband tried to patch it once, doing the swim-down-and-kick-like-hell-and-use-your-foot-to-smooth-it-out method. It stuck, but water was still slowly seeping out. So I gave up and and called Eric the Pool Dr, recommended by my neighbor. Turns out Pool Dr sold his business, but talked me through the process: you have to cut the patch 2-3x the size of the hole, slather it like crazy and fold it over. Then swim down, use something to hold yourself down, and use a plastic putty knife to get all the bubbles out. So, one afternoon we tried again. First we had to pull off the old patch, and it was on there pretty good, so the stuff sticks! We sunk a kettle bell, my husband put on a pair of our kids' crappy goggles, and I prepped the patch while he thought about his strategy and did some recon missions. Our method required me to put pressure on his back/butt, HOLDING HIM DOWN UNDER THE WATER, while he opened the patch and placed it, then grasped the kettle bell with one hand and used the puttly knife to get out all the air bubbles with the other. This process required coming up for breath a few times, each time with me subsequently pushing him back under the water. We have been married for 17 years. This was a true test of the trust in our marriage. It was a little bit terrifying. We appear to no longer be losing water though this ground hole, and nobody drowned. Still, I hope if we have to patch again, we will do so when the pool isn't quite full.
Review: It works - We had about a 1 inch tear in the line of our above ground pool where pool steps had rubbed it over the years. Patch was a little messy with glue and some air bubbles under patch where liner is creased and not perfectly flat but I applied it and its working great no more leak. Its been in place now for 3 months and still holding. Planning on replacing our 10 year old liner next season but this patch is legit.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: does this work on the seams coming loose from bottom of pool?**
A: Sorry to say I didn't use it for a pool. I did use it to repair a yard vac bag it it has held much better than I would have expected even under heavy use.

**Q: what side do you put down, slick or slightly rough? it is the last piece i have, going to need another patch kit. what makes your the best working?**
A: I used vinyl pool repair kit make sure you apply adhesive to patch, both sides of vinly were smooth ours was under water so fold it upon itself until you reach the area to be patch then open and place patch.hold for a few seconds. still holding this year. PS I would put adhesive on rough side.

**Q: What is the material thickness in mil units?**
A: Whatever it is,it is thin compared to my vynil liner,it does work but hard to work with, the material curls up the minute you put adhesive on it,if you are using it above the waterline I suggest putting the adhesive on the liner first then position the patch on.

**Q: Will this worl to repair a tear in the blue ring on top?**
A: With attention to full application of glue, I'd think so. I'm assuming that you are referring to an inflatable easy-set pool ring.

### ⭐ Glue's weak, patch is inflatable toy thin. will not last even if you luck out and work.
*by P***R on July 30, 2018*

I used it 2 times. once on a dry surface on my vinyl pool, it stick a little. used it on another time under water, it seems as soon as it touch the water, the glue is already weakened. I had a patch on it a few years ago and it had a minor leak now, maybe 1/4 inch more or less and something seems none. I took that off and apply this glue and patch last night, it doesn't seem it stick well. Check this morning, already lost about 1 inch, about 3 PM, lost another inch. at this rate, by 24 hours, it'll probably loose 3 inches. I read another site that the best glue is from Boxer for wet patching. and probably should get a thicker patch from the pool vinyl instead of this super thin one; this one is as thin as your inflatable toy. even if patch work, I don't think it'll last.
