This is the one chief
As a graduate student, consistent gamer and music producer this laptop offers absolutely everything you can imagine. I searched all over Amazon and websites for an i7-6 core processor that would provide me with what I needed, yet this laptop exceeded my high expectations. The speed is ridiculous and it has yet to show any signs of issues. It runs Ableton and FL studio amazingly being able to sustain multiple plugins at once. I got the MSI with 32gb ram, 2666mem, 1TB and this thing operates like a beast. It is also VR ready which I barely found out about. It does get warm after playing games, but if you install the MSI dragon center, it will activate the second fan which makes gaming and running apps that require a lot of strength a lot more smooth. Additionally, it has a cooling feature that makes sure that your laptop is healthy after it has worked for hours. This is the one chief. Look no further.

Works great for my In-design and Photoshop task.
Works great for my business design applications. The fan can be a little noisy when doing hard work like video editing but it is a beast at getting the processing done. The full fledged GTX 1070 works well with games also. Its a solid laptop but best if used plugged in as the battery does not last long. But I just needed to be able to do my work in varied locations and it serves the purpose well. It has been a good purchase.

Overall, highly recommend
Overall, a very good computer, especially for around $1000. Highly recommend. Things to note: 1. The speakers - pretty loud, but do not sound very good. If you're a serious gamer, I doubt you'll be using them much anyway. 2. The trackpad - honestly, when I first got the computer, I suspected there was something wrong: The buttons very kinda lose and very squishy. Again, however, if you are a serious gamer, I doubt you'll be using the trackpad much anyway. 3. The screen - it's meh. Certainly not 4k. It looks alright. I think in five years, when compared to other gaming computers, it will really appear dated.

It's pretty good :)
This is a great laptop. It plays pretty much any game I put it through at max settings. It's got enough power that I've settled with this instead of a PC. I'm getting another monitor to connect to it, creating a natural "dual monitor" system. Great picture in game and in video. Great response time. It does heat up pretty fast but the fans keep it just cool enough not to crash any games. The MSI Dragon Center© is pretty nice to control the fans, battery usage, and clear disc/memory. It's a great machine and I don't plan to change. Easily better than most other pieces in its price range.

The laptop your wife warned you about...
Sure the battery isnt the greatest. But when your gaming do you really depend on it? I was blown away by the 1660ti. Especially for a mobile platform. I am able to play most games at the highest setting with no issues. Call of duty gets around 90-120fps, if you lower the setting slightly in some areas you can get 120 all the time. Gta 5, maxed is somewhere between 65 and 90, so not the greatest but come on its mobile. Skyrim runs smooth as melted butter on a pancake. Fallout might be the lowest performance, still better than console. So if you're on the fence about the lappy top, just get it already. You wont be disappointed. CUK had a heck of a deal on it with 32gb of ram, 1tb nvme for 950 doll hairs. I dont think you can find a better deal. Windows 10 pro clean install was a nice touch. Battery life is horrible, but honestly I do not think any gaming laptop does have good battery. Light usage it does have a use of 7hrs or so. But you're lucky to get 2 maybe 3 max gaming.

Failures
Was good for about a month then the cable that runs to the monitor from the motherboard broke and i had to return it. then i got my replacement computer and it was good for about 6 months then the charging port on the I/O broke and i had to get it refunded. overall a very disappointing experience (Edit) I suggest getting a razer computer you will not regret it

Powerful laptop with some notable drawbacks
I researched many gaming laptops before settling on this one. In hindsight, I'm kicking myself for not taking a closer look at some very basic features, which I'll explain. They likely would have been deal-breakers for me. First, the good - this is a lightning quick PC that runs my games (via Steam, mostly) like a dream. Powerful graphics process, a vivid display, and other hallmarks of a good gaming rig are all synced nicely in this machine. It boots up quick, has a nice control panel called MSI "Dragon Center" for managing resources with gaming, and it shows off it's specs by running games at high settings. Now, the bad - to show off its stuff with those high settings, it runs HOT. You can use a turbo fan setting that cools it down, but that is really, really noisy. Like you are riding in an airplane. So be prepared to possibly use headphones just to muffle that sound. Worse , there are only TWO USB ports, and both sit on the right side of the laptop. I'm righthanded, so that's where I use my mouse. But now there is the wired plug of my mouse impeding me there, and also the USB plug for my cooling station (which I need because of the heat problem I mentioned). So now my USB ports are all used up, and they are awkwardly in the way of my hand where I would use my mouse. This is entirely aggravating and I'm still frustrated about it. Plus, if I want to plug in my joystick, what do I unplug? My cooling station, or my mouse? Not a good situation!! Finally, I wish I had looked harder at the keyboard. There is no number pad, which it turns out is something I used in keymapping for some of my games. Those extra keys are needed in some situations. It was incredibly short-sighted on my part to not think about that. Oh well. Expensive lesson learned. Some people will be entirely happy with this powerful gaming beast, if they just aren't as particular as I am. It will help if they are left handed. And if they never use more than two USB devices at a time ... ever.

Fine laptop - Amazon's pricing is exorbitant
I bought this laptop and it has so far fulfilled my expectations - it is a great deal, all things considered, to get this MSI laptop. I was particularly happy about the weight. The keyboard also feels solid. I am noticing, though, that it is running quite hot when I put on video games. I might end up turning off some of the anti-aliasing or other more intensive features of the games in order not to melt the chassis. And, negatively, the fan is QUITE LOUD. I can hear it from my bedroom to the bathroom down the hall. [UPDATED: the Dragon Center software which controls the fan is the reason for these problems. It turns out that the default ship-and-play automatic settings were not activating the second built-in fan. After updating the Dragon Center to the latest version, both the overheating and noise problems were largely resolved.] That said, a big negative: I discovered (after I bought it) that this laptop is priced 'up' on Amazon by $259 or so over the price one pays if you order it directly on the retailer's website (CUK). Irritatingly, I paid the higher price.
