BEST midi board for the minimalist.
So heres my story. Im a guitar player that comes from the world of analog tube amps and the like. After touring and giging for a while i decided to go into the world of digital amps because of reliability and ease of use. So i purchased a Bias mini head and a line 6 m5 effects processor. Simple rig. Nothing crazy. Then i was introduced into the world of Midi controllers. Im a minimalist and i like to have one wire going from my amp to the pedal board, which wasnt really an option at first until i stumbled upon the Meloaudio Midi Commander. Still new to the world of Midi, i couldnt find much info on it online but i pulled the trigger anyway. This midi board is ABSOLUTELY the easiest thing to use. I absolutely love that (cause of my midi noob self). The size is perfect, functionality is simple, its robust, it just works as it should. It comes preloaded with different presets for different amp interfaces and as soon as i switched it to Bias, it worked with my amp flawlessly. I currently use it to control both my Bias amp and the Line 6 M5 at the same time. And still only one cable from my amp to the pedal. BECAUSE BATTERIES!!!! Its absolutely genius. And the expression pedal input works perfect to the Line 6 M5, it took a little fiddling but it works perfect. I have ZERO complaint about this pedal and its abilities. After touring for a few weeks with it, jumping on it, spilling beer on it (whoops), it has not let me down. Always ready to rock!

Nice product. not customizable enough for my specific needs.
The pedal is well built and feels nice, very solid. All metal housing. Tiny screen is surprisingly easy to read. Easy to set custom parameters. Sadly I've returned mine. It can't map PC or CC commands in the very specific way that I needed which was to control a loop pedal. PC only works sequentially like PC 0-7, one after the other, going from PC 1 to PC 50 means required bank changes. CC commands can't have a specific data field value. For example: button 1 CC3 value 115, button 2 CC3 value 118, button 3 CC3 value 5. It seems like it'd be a fairly easy addition to add a custom order, non sequential PC mapping mode and a specific data value for midiCC messages. If an update fixes it, will buy again immediately. P.S. Support was great, they emailed back right away, had an engineer contact me and even sent a me a video to see if a different solution would work for me.

Review with Helix HX Stomp
I wanted to share my thoughts on how the Midi Commander works with the HX Stomp. This is overall a solid midi controller with solid metal construction and compact size (about the size of 3 or 4 stompboxes side by side). There are some thoughtful touches such as an LCD screen and onboard battery charging. 8 of the footswitches are customizable, but the two on the far right are coded to move preset banks up and down (the switch can be setup to move 4, 5, 8, or 10 presets at a time with a max ability to move through 32 presets) and cannot be customized to do anything else. The default setup has the bottom 4 footswitches to select presets and the top 4 footswitches for stompboxes. Dedicating a switch to toggle through modes is not possible using a midi subparameter (you can only set CC or PC#). You can however set FS4 and 5 to be controlled by MIDI and then set on HX Stomp to have FS 4 or 5 to be a Tap/Tuner, Bank Up/Down, Preset Up/Down, Snap Shot Up/Down, FS Mode L/R. If you decide to dedicate FS4 or 5 to do these commands, remember you will lose that function as a footswitch, though each stompbox can be assigned using a discrete MIDI number using HX Edit so as long as that number is not in use. Also remember whatever you set on FS 4 or 5 on Midi Commander will also replicate the same command on the FS4/5 EP1/2 jack. So all this is because Midi Commander cannot assign subparameters (it's either 0/127 or 0/64). Another drawback is the footswitches makes an annoyingly loud clicking sound. All in all though I think with some work around this controller does exactly what you want it to using the HX Stomp. It would be nice for the future to tone down the clicking sound and to possibly open up the bank footswitches to make them customizable.

The Apple of guitar gear. It just works!
I have been trying to find the right combination of gear to work with iOS Positive Grid software for quite some time now. I saw a review for this switch and was hooked. I decided I was going to go all in and get the compatible interface and expression pedal too. So, I purchased: MidiCommander MeloAudio TS Mini USB interface MeloAudio expression pedal Straight out of the boxes... I plugged it all in and it all just worked. It works flawlessly with JamUp Pro and BiasFX. The sound is great and there is zero latency switching between presets. In short, this gear is fantastic. Do yourself a favor if you want a portable easy to set up and manage rig. So easy to use and incredibly well made with solid metal materials. This gear is a steal for the price!

good hardware, terrible software, inexistent user manual - assumes you know everything about midi
Bad product. hardware is ok, rugged, easy to connect, but the setup sucks.. so much hype in some youtubes videos. I have a Neural DSP Quad Cortex, a pretty new modeller and the "commander" does not have any mapping. No problem, you can customize it. The interface sucks in all levels, there is no software setup that could make your life easier. Product website takes you to a domain selling website.. terrible. Manual is short and assumes you know everything about midi controllers. If you want to learn how to operate, you need to check people doing videos on youtube. It can get you somewhere of using the product, but far from its announced capabilities. It seems to me it is only good for bias fx, kemper and other pre-configured daws and modelers. honest opinion? get another brand like behringer.

Well built, works well now.
I like the MIDI Commander very much. I bought it to go with my Kemper. Did not want to spend $500 on a Kemper Remote since Iโm not a gigging musician. It works very well now however at first it acted differently. For example the bank buttons did not work unless I pressed D or 4 first. Then it would go up and down in like 5 step increments. Was very strange, then one day all of a sudden it all worked as I would think it was supposed to. I didnโt do any programming of the pedal. Also, and I donโt know why the expression pedal jacks seem to work better going into the Kemper direct rather than thru the MIDI C. Thereโs a lot of stuff I donโt know exactly about the Kemper and that could be it. Some things on the instruction pamphlet could be better explained to MIDI non-experts. Overall well made and works well. PS. Iโm looking for some AAA re-chargeables as it seems to go thru batteries.

Steep learning curve--- but worth it! FINALLY get your iOS guitar app to be ready for live playing
This works great with Bias FX mobile- both FX and FX2- with iOS (iPad here). I actually used the custom configuration as it allows you to advance to another patch and THEN select it--- additionally it shows presets as numbers/letters in Bias FX (so 1A, 2B, etc.). I set up the Midi Commander with effects on/off on the top row and patch changes on the bottom row. Use Midi Learn if your app supports it to make setting it up much easier. I tried quite a few expression pedals for volume (set that up in each of my Bias FX patches by adding "EQ" category and there is a volume pedal in there) to find the best one that adjust its taper to best suit smooth and incremental volume from silent to full--- and the winner for expression pedal used for volume adjustments?? MeloAudio's own EXP-001- also sold here on Amazon.

Great unit but needs more tech support.
The unit is very solid in construction and works as advertised but the manuals are a disgrace, and there's not much more in their website or in Youtube tutorials. A lot of features I'm still not sure how to use and I suspect is a lot more fun if I did. Another thing is that if you are planning to use this with say, a laptop a few meters behind you in a stage, the USB port is not going to work. It can only handle USB cable lengths of 3 or 4 feet before the communication start to break. An $87 USB extender kit from Amazon will fix this.

Una gran herramienta ๐๐ป

Works awesome!
I bought this to pair with STL/Ignite Amps AmpHub digital amp sim software suite (via USB) and my hardware guitar modeller - an old DigiTech GSP1101 (via MIDI cable) As with most MIDI devices, it took some tinkering - the settings on the device, the settings in the software, and the settings on the hardware can get pretty confusing as they all want to work slightly differently. However, there's no drivers or software to install, it's just plug and play and ready to go! The manual isn't great, but a key thing I noticed was that each time you click a button, it'll indicate what CC/PC number it's sending on the screen of the MIDI Commander, so you can map commands to the destination (amp, modeller, software), or the source (MIDI Commander). Even the Expression pedal indicates the CC number when opening/closing it. It took some tinkering, but it's working in the AmpHub sim, and the GSP1101 modeller. I also grabbed the branded expression pedal and it's running the wahs /volumes/etc flawlessly for both ๐ I didn't have to actually program the MIDI Commander at all - just mapped the footswitch commands in the software/modeller and was good to go! Amazing little unit for the price; solidly built; anodized aluminium, good weight, solid inputs, and good clicky footswitches The Expression pedal is equally well made Highly recommend for it's versatility, dual functionality (USB or MIDI cable), compatibility, quality, tiny footprint, and price. Seriously can't go wrong!

Just what I needed
Well built, very easy to program. I didn't need to read the manual more than once to get it setup. Using a custom setup and so far it does everything I want it to do. I am using this to control an HX Stomp and several other midi devices. It works perfectly, this replaced a far more popular and expensive midi controller. If I could make some suggestions for a version 2 of this controller they would be, #1 - Make it slightly bigger, a little more space between the switches would be helpful to avoid hitting 2 switches at one time, #2 - Add the option to send a value with CC #s. The ability to run this off of rechargeable batteries, and to recharge them directly in the unit is awesome and saves another wire from being on the floor. I hooked it up to my computer as well and had it functioning with my DAW(Studio One on Windows 10) within a minute of setup. Super easy. The 4 bank switches allow me to PC several midi effects and amp channel switching via presets, the additional CC buttons allow me to access the tuner and turn a few effects on and off in my HX Stomp. This is exactly what I needed, the footprint is slightly larger than the more expensive controller I previously had allowing me to avoid hitting 2 switches at once(an extra half inch between them would make this just perfect), the expression pedal ports allow me to control the volume and wah(and other parameters) easily. My pedalboard can sit safely beside my amp while this controller comes upfront with me and takes care of the entire setup. Super happy with my purchase.

Best inexpensive MIDI floor controller
Hey fellow musos! As the universe of audio creation & production evolves, from time to time, an almost perfect product comes around to fill a need one has, and this has been my experience with the Soleman. To get to the point, I use it for 2 distinct purposes, and so far in the month that I have been using it, it has functioned flawlessly and has filled a void in my studio and my live rig, which I will now get to. I will assume if you're reading this, I'm not gonna have to explain what it can do, but I will tell y'all what I do. Live, I use the Soleman linked via a MIDI cable (in this mode, you require 2 x AAA battery, or a trick I learned, plug the USB cable into a charger, and no battery needed) to the Source Audio Neuro Hub, a dedicated "brain" that controls up to 5 Source pedals, and saves all the settings of all the pedals into "scenes", so 128 presets, that are all simultaneously saved across all pedals, so some very interesting sound can be achieved. I won't go into this aspect any further, other than to say, the Soleman was remarkably easy (by MIDI standards) to hook up - a preset has 128 empty patches that can be stored and accessed, as well as 2 expression pedals for say, volume and filter frequency, or whatever parameter you assign. My second use is straight USB into my MacBook to control Logic Pro. The buttons can be used to change patches within Logic, tap tempo, record start and stop, punches, anything that can be triggered via MIDI. With the current update of Logic, there are more new opportunities to utilize a device like this - just having 10 buttons and 2 expression pedals can light up your workflow in Logic as it frees ones hands. I really found the device liberating, both live and in the studio, and would buy it again at a higher price, that is how good it is, how toughly built it is, and how simple and elegant this perfect little device is. It surpassed my expectations, and forced me out of my comfort zone with some of the new features in Logic that are very cool and useful - one can use Logic as a front end for an excellent live show incorporating live loops, and a device like the Soleman gives you the control. Solid piece of kit, tough to say anything negative. Maybe it could be a bit lighter, but then it would slide around. Excellent.

Very Happy With Purchase
I am very happy with the purchase of this midi controller! After much contemplation and research and looking around for other units I was initially disgruntled with the current offerings by other manufacturers being either too big or too small and lacking controllability or too expensive or cheaply made out of plastic! After a very speedy delivery and upon opening the package I was immediately greeted by a large Thank You/Manual. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the size of the unit was exceptionally compact without buttons being too close together, very light weight and would be a fantastic unit as far as portability concerns. Also I was very pleased that this unit is built like a tank fully constructed out of metal and the foot control buttons are very easy to press without the annoying and extremely loud clicking sound that I am all too familiar with on some of my older midi foot controllers! One of the big reasons I wanted to get this was to control Quantiloop at first I was not having quite the success that I desired because Quantiloop recommends momentary control change but after a little configuring I was able to get it to work being that the Midi Commander already has so many switches I was simply able to add the additional functionality to other designated switches such as dedicated undo and redo functionality per track which in my thinking is that it could actually be advantageous as opposed to having that functionality all in one switch could lead to accidental overdubs. Also in iOS I also was able to achieve optimal functionality in Jam Up and Bias Fx with easy seamless intergration such as banks/presets/fx on/off and I havenโt even used the expression pedal yet. In desktop I was able to also get full functionality from BIAS FX Pro and was so happy to now have full functionality of Scuffham S-gear. This has absolutely brought these applications to life for me now by having hands free full functionality. This midi controller has proven to be able to be nicely integrated with my desktop studio environment as well as my live portable iOS sessions. Iโve not had the chance to try this with all my software but of what I have I can honestly say I wish I would have been able to acquire this midi controller yearโs ago!
