I had the same fear until I had the bolt in my hands. There is a tight spring to hold the bolt up in place. It will not fall down and lock you out.

Yes. I’d say If your child can unlock a deadbolt, they’ll unlock this too. My 2yo figured it out in a couple days. Sadly it’s not the child proofing mechanism I was hoping it would be.
