How do you separate the front cover from the back plate and to change batteries ?

My husband says to gently pull the cover plate from the back piece. There are 4 clips that fit into slots on the back piece. These are all inside of the cover so you won’t see anything. When replacing the front cover, just line up the clips to the slots. Very easy to do.

I'm replacing 1f80-0471 with non-prog 1f86-0471. will this be interchangeable with the 1f86?

As long as both have the same wiring connections and are compatible with your system, program or non-program doesn't matter. Programmable is just a feature that provides more convenience without having to change the settings manually. If it makes you feel better, ask a local heating expert. Hope this helps.

If using this in an RV, do you connect the C wire if you are on 30 amp shore power?

Your C wire is just a common for power. If you dont plan on using batteries, then C will be required to power the thermostat.

Does this replace White Rodgers 1F80-241?

This is a non programmable T stat. If you want to use this to replace and don't care about the programmable side , then yes it will work
