Decent racing game. Runs great on PS5.
This is my first time playing a Project Cars game and I'm really enjoying it. If you like Grid this is kind of similar. The track selection is varied with different tracks than other titles giving a good sense of variety. I'm playing on PS5 in resolution mode and everything runs smooth and at a locked 60fps. Graphically it's decent as a ps4 game with the only visible flaw being quite close scenery detail pop in.The racing is highly customisable suiting all skill levels. Racing is fun, fast and frenetic, the ai opponents really battle hard, it's a great challenge but not frustrating. My new copy is a US version which works on a EU/UK machine with your EU/UK account, only issue is if you want the dlc you will need a US account as the dlc is region locked. Overall I really like PC3, it can join Drive Club as a decent delisted driving game worth picking up before it's gone.

Different but still good!
Read a lot of negative reviews about this game and I understand it is different, but there are lots of positives too.For me there is a great selection of tracks and cars and the best bit is they can all be driven and used immediately. Set up your own custom race and you can borrow any car and go to any track - have a race - or just practice. The custom event is a game within itself, no need to worry about the arcade style career. The handling is more simplistic than PC2, but that makes the game very playable with a controller and I find it a very enjoyable experience just to drive cars about. There are other negatives too, the graphics lack polish at times which is disappointing on PS4 pro. But overall a good game.

Not a project cars game, but a brilliant simcade race, one of the best imo
This game is certainly not a simulation like Project Cars 2, and I think that's why everyone seems to hate it so much, since they all (rightfully) expected a game with the title "Project Cars" to be full-sim. But if you're into simcade racers and you can forgive the issue of its title, you'll find that its a fantastic game. I've been playing it with a Thrustmaster T150 with the TH8A shifter and T3PA pedals and it honestly feels great, despite not being a full-sim the force feedback is pretty good and the cars drive and feel just the way you'd expect them to. I've also briefly played with the PS4 controller, just enough to get a brief idea of how it feels and it seems pretty good, although I can't fully judge it from my lack of time with it on controller. The campaign is pretty run of the mill, win races to earn money to buy new cars and win more races, slowly getting to leagues of faster and faster cars. There's races, time trials, and "breakouts" where you have to hit cone-like targets for points. These game modes are all great and I personally love the campaign, you earn credits by levelling up and the higher your level the more credits you earn per level up, so it never feels like a grind. In an hour of play you should amass enough credits to afford a new car.Speaking of cars, this is hands down one of the best car collections I've ever seen in any game, brilliant variety with so many types of vehicles and a great number of vehicles in each class, with each car still feeling distinct from the others in its class. The list of tracks is also outstanding, although it does omit some important ones. The sound design is some of the best I've ever encountered in a racing game. There are some problems, first of all the AI are stupidly aggressive and will ram you off the track on any difficulty/aggression setting. The game has a really annoying penalty system whereby it freezes your car for a huge amount of time if you get 4 wheels out of the track boundary at any point in a race. In a time trial the penalty criteria is the same but it doesn't tell you that you've made the mistake until the end of the entire challenge, where after 3 laps of focused driving it will suddenly tell you "FAILURE" and you'll have to try and guess where you made your error. This would be fine if you could deactivate the penalties, but the game doesn't allow you to do this, even though its significantly more arcadey than its predecessor, which is just hypocritical and annoying imo.Overall this is a brilliant unmissable simcade experience if you have the right expectations and have the patience to deal with some of the nonsensical problems aforementioned in my review, do NOT expect a full-sim and you should be fine. I've had it for a few months now and I'm still nowhere near bored with it. I play 2-3x weekly for 1.0-1.5hrs each time and I've still got plenty of campaign left to go. Would highly recommend this one.

Recommended if you run out of Racing Games to play...
If you're looking to continue on from Project Cars 1 or 2, where you start from the bottom and climb the ranks from Rookie through to World Champion in a decentconsole racing sim, then unfortunately you're in the wrong place! It's not a bad game, but it shouldn't be viewed (or titled) as the next instalment of Project Cars.A spin off title would have been better suited - Like with Horizon in the Forza series. The main issue with PC3 for me is the graphics, and again it goes back to not being a direct follow on from Project Cars 1 & 2. The graphics of the previous titles were brilliant, and you could see the improvement from 1 to 2. To say the graphics are a step back would be an understatement!I'm fully aware that graphics aren't the foundation of a good game, but in 2020, at the end of the PS4 generation, ONTOP of previously beautiful games, it's unacceptable for this game to look so bad. There's even the option to reduce the quality in favour of framerate...Overall I am enjoying the game. Having recently played through the Need for Speed series, The Crew 2, Wreckfest, F12020 to name a few, I fancied an arcade racer that I could pop on, complete a race or two and unlock some cars. It hasn't disappointed in that respect, but I'm glad I picked it up at a reduced price!3 / 5

I like it.
Just started this. I put off buying after hearing varied opinions. Eventually got this & Initial impression is I like it. I enjoy Arcade & Simulation racers on console with a basic game pad. This is different from PC1&2 which were very simulation. Reminds me a little more of classic Forza Motorsports and Grid. Arcade elements but with basic simulation. UI reminds me of arcade/ basic simulation. It seems fun. Not crazy complicated menus although you can increase difficulty and change settings etc. Standard car upgrade options you'd expect. NFS/ Forza feel as you pick from stock to performance to Motorsport parts. Just seems fun.

Fantastic, fun Career Mode
Dont understand what the negative reviews are. Yes it might not be sim handling anymore but it's a fun game to play! The graphics are spot on nothing bad to say about the graphics. If you enjoy racing games working your way up career mode then this is for you. You can do things you cant in the last 2 project cars games such as customise your cars and much more. The career mode seems better.Car handling is such an improvement from the last one and cars handle really well like I said it's not a sim but it's a great game definitely worth a buy if your into car racing games!

The update fixes a lot of the problems
After reading so much negativity about the performance, appearance and change of game style I was under no illusions that this would be a great experience to start with. There was a 33GB update available, to version 1.07 which would take at least an hour to download, so I started playing the unpatched version and the experience was as expected - rough. The frame rate was poor, graphics blurry and glitchy and the menu system looked like a mobile game. BUT... the handling was excellent. So, the download finished and I installed it. I was greeted with new loading screens, an improved menu system. Rotatable cars in the livery editor, and a much improved framerate. The game is now pretty much fixed. The only thing is a few slight framerate issues. A 30fps lock would be a good addition but it’s so much better than it was without the patch that it’s not critical. The way I would describe it now is that the game was unacceptable and is now acceptable enough that anyone thinking of buying it should only need to consider the departure in style to a more arcadey type of game and whether that’s for them or not.Oh, and the music is amazing.

I'm guessing this is a joke...
... Or we really are in some weird sort of parallel universe nowadays.I have PC1 & PC2 along with the Logitech G29 wheel and pedal setup for my PS4. These racing games / simulations have given hours of fun, downtime, excitement and pleasure over the last few years and I was incredibly excited when I was able to pre order PC3. After the work and care that Slightly Mad Studios had put into the first two installments, PC3 was surely going to be my go to disc whenever I had some free time. I have never felt as disappointed and deflated in a purchase as I have with this. If you're after a beautifully rendered and accurate sim racing game that builds on its predecessor then look elsewhere. If you want to be transported to a noisy arcade in Blackpool in the 90s then you're in for a treat. PC3 is closer to Outrun than the previous 2 incarnations. I thought 2020 couldn't have got any more strange until now. Save your money and visit the seaside, you'll feel much better for it.
