Having My Cake and Crushing My Macros Too!
Finding a protein bar that doesn't taste like sweetened cardboard or pack in unnecessary carbohydrates has been an ongoing mission of mine. When I came across the David High Protein Bars, specifically the Cake Batter flavor, the nutritional profile alone stopped me in my tracks. Getting a massive 28 grams of protein for a mere 150 calories almost seemed like a typo. Most bars on the market hover around 20 grams of protein for well over 200 calories, so discovering something this remarkably macro-friendly felt like an absolute game-changer for my daily nutrition and fitness goals. Let's talk about the flavor and texture, because that is exactly where most diet-friendly snacks completely fall apart. The Cake Batter flavor is genuinely phenomenal. It perfectly captures that rich, vanilla-forward, nostalgic taste without any of the gross, lingering artificial sweetener aftertaste you often get with zero-sugar products. Since there is 0g of sugar in these, I was honestly expecting a dense, overly chewy, jaw-tiring experience, but the texture is incredibly satisfying. It's soft enough to bite through easily but substantial enough to feel like a real indulgence, completely knocking out my sweet tooth when those intense mid-afternoon cravings hit. From a performance standpoint, these are exactly what I need to power through a busy schedule or recover effectively after a heavy lifting session. Because they are so low in carbs and entirely gluten-free, my energy levels stay perfectly stable without the dreaded crash that usually follows a sweet snack. I now keep a few of these shiny gold wrappers stashed in my gym bag, the center console of my truck, and my office desk drawer. They have easily become my ultimate on-the-go snack when I need a fast, substantial protein hit but don't have the time to mix up a powder or prep a full meal. The presentation is just the icing on the cake. The bold, gold wrappers look incredibly premium, and grabbing the 12-pack box ensures I am well-stocked and ready to tackle the week. If you are serious about hitting your daily protein targets but completely refuse to compromise on taste or waste your hard-earned calories on subpar snacks, I cannot recommend the David Cake Batter bars enough. They are absolutely incredible and have legitimately redefined what I expect from a protein bar, proving you actually can have your cake and eat it too.

Great Protein Bar
These bars are loaded with protein using gluten-free and non-GMO ingredients, have zero sugar and taste GREAT. It’s a large bar for only 150 calories and is very filling for a meal replacement or snack. So far, I’ve only tried the Cake Batter flavor, but am looking forward to trying the others. You will not be disappointed!

Good choice for pumping up protein intake!
I had the peanut butter one and felt it tasted moldy. It was just how the peanut flavor came across. There wasn’t any mold. The next box I got was cake batter. I found this to taste better. In a hurry to get your protein in for the day, this is a good choice.

Expensive
Good taste and protein content but expensive. I can't afford them on a regular basis. They are made in Canada so that may impact the cost. Tariffs and all.

Oily orange stools
They taste great, but they are super oily, this isnt so much a review about this particular flavor but ive tried numerous flavors within the past week or two and recently ive noticed gastrointestinal problems, and oily orange stools. Google says not to have more than one a day and id follow that if you want to have normal bowel movements. I paid alot of money for multiple PROTEIN BAR flavors including this one but im willing to cut my losses and go back to my Ole reliable QUEST PROTEIN BARS,not as much protein but that's fine with me,but id rather waste my money by throwing away these protein bars if it means i dont have oily orange stools. My advise move on to other brands, and read the ingredients before purchasing something nowadays, the ingredient used that make it oily causes oily stools,bc your body can fully absorb it and isnt fully digestible.

I hope the nutrition label is accurate
I love this flavor bar in particular. It gives me a taste of something sweet while getting my macros. There is a lot of news about the calories and I pray what is on the label is accurate but if it changes down the line— I will not be very happy. I’m deciding to give the makers the benefit of the doubt after hearing their side in news articles. I track calories and protein for my weight. I will say I haven’t noticed an increase in my weight since eating these bars so that is why I continue to purchase them.

Not like cake batter, more like flavored chewing gum.
The cake batter flavored high protein bars which I spent $39.99 on , didn’t taste like cakes or cake batter & the only way I can say that it’s high protein is because they claim that on the box !!!! It mentions putting the box in the fridge (which I think I should have done). The packages of bars were difficult to open because every piece of the bars- which touched the inside packaging was stuck to it. It really could have used some wax paper (between the bars and its packaging) or have it already cut into little pieces like a Hershey’s Bar. The box arrived inside a larger box (which protected them). They weren’t hard, stale or dry. They smelled perfectly fine (but then I had nothing to compare it against). Am I satisfied? It’s difficult answering that. Will I be buying more? NO. Were they worth the money? NO. Will I be asking for a refund? Probably not since I can’t actually return anything (I’m handicapped, bedridden and have been in a long term care facility since 2021) . I’ll probably ask my aides if they would like any, and also have the aides ask the patients if they would like some (our aides are aware of who can eat and those who cannot real food).
