And if audio fidelity is what you’re most concerned about, you shouldn’t even bother listening to vinyl.I grew up with vinyl, more than happily abandoned it one better technologies came along, and decided to give this machine a try after staying in a short term rental that had a player and some records. And I think what this really excels that is listening to the older records from the early 60s and prior.By any objective measures the speakers in this are horrible, but they’re absolutely perfect for that kind of music. And as it turns out, it’s a really fun experience. I’ve been so absorbed into the digital world that I have forgotten what it’s like to actually own a physical copy of your music. The steaks are higher. I ended up buying a random assortment of vinyl records from somebody on the used market, and the very fact that you own a physical peace of recording history provides more incentive to listen to the music.Anyway, in terms of the hardware, This won’t win any awards for durability. The stylus and cartridge will probably have to be replaced after about 300 hours. The tone arm is very light and somewhat resident, which results in fluttering with some records. Again, that’s part of the charm. And why you should steer clear this if you care about fidelity. I also don’t think this would do very well being moved around often, and I doubt the exterior would hold up well over a short amount of time with a lot of banging around.On upshot is that the DC power it requires is 5V/1A.
