GATEMATE 3" (75mm) Kenham Gate Catch - BZP

I like these gate catches. The gate is now much easier to open and close and makes it easier to postal deliveries etc. I keep it well oiled and have had no issues. No sign of rust. An excellent piece of hardware.

Good quality product, but unfortunately not suitable for our gate.

Bought this to replace a standard gate latch that wasn't quite meeting my needs. I wanted something that I could 100% rely on to close my gate behind me and keep it closed to ensure my Rottie doesn't escape. I can't express how impressed I am with this latch. It's very sturdy, great value, and does exactly what it says! Was very easy to install too which was a bonus. It comes with instructions and self tapping screws. I definitely recommend 👌🏻

Excellent fast delivery, secures wooden gates with old catches used to rattle in wind with these gates are held secure in very windy condition. Would recommend these 100%.

Great purchase good quality

It fell apart on the first day of use! - retaining pin that holds one of the spinning wheels fell out. I got around this by refixing the catch upside down and hammering the pin back in. 30 days later its holding okay. Looking at other reviews I guess build quality is inconsistent, spring pressure is fine on the one I fitted, the striker plate is solid, easy to line up and adjustable - that's good, but the catch itself is so flimsy and bendable like tin. I wouldn't expect it to last long. I've given it 3 stars cos I've been looking for one of these for ages and together with a gate closer it's solved an issue but at £7.70 - the price I paid, I think it's way overpriced for the quality.

Purchased for a back gate on which the normal latch sometimes jumps open in wind. I remember these from years back when they were widely used and have been looking around for one for a while. Firstly, it is a bit flimsy. When I screwed to the gatepost the baseplate bent. The base of the catch could do with being of the same thickness of metal as the strike plate supplied. The spring mechanism was also prone to moving about and, while it seemed secure and worked, it was noticeable that it could move. When fitting, I did the usual thing and thought I knew best. Put the catch too close to the edge of the post and the shorter arm catches on the gate after it has been sprung. Fail to stick the striking plate out far enough and the spring does not flick all the way round. However, a bit of trial and error and all was working well. I would like a way of making the spring stronger or weaker depending on preference, but it appears to be at a fixed tension. I thought this was a bit expensive for what it is, and the quality of the materials, but it has done the job and it was still cheaper on Amazon than elsewhere.

This gate catch is a breeze to fit - it took me about 15 minutes. The spring in the catch mechanism is very sturdy and operates smoothly. My gate now opens and closes with ease, and stays shut. Excellent.
