Pricey but very well conceived and made
I wanted to use this to experiment with 40 Hz optical and aural stimulation following the exciting results of using this to reverse Alzheimer's in mice. It is a massive improvement on the monochrome and two colour so-called 'light and machines' of old, and is also a useful recreational tool and aid to meditation. I found that the Ganzfeld goggles didn't work for me, as keeping my eyes open through a session was tiring: I much preferred the standard goggles.

Great Product, Fantastic Customer Service
Extremely happy with the product, used it for meditation, sleep, and more recently I've been dabbling with the Gateway Process with them. Very happy with the product! Also had the opportunity to speak with MindPlace's customer service as I had some question, very friendly, very informative about their product. Thank you Andy for your wisdom!

Do your brain a favour, it will thank you for it!
A few of points I would like to make for people who are hesitating on the price. Firstly, a Mind Machine is a unique self improvement/drug-free altered state experience unlike anything else available. Only you can say how much value you place on a way to experience a state of mind that is unlike anything else in normal reality, but to me that's almost priceless Secondly, this entire Kasina bundle costs around a third of the price of a top-of-the-range Smartphone. I'm confident in saying a Mind Machine will do your brain a lot more good than a Smartphone... Finally, yes the user-interface of this device might look out-of-date compared to the latest wireless touch-screen goodies we are all used to. Honestly, though, it just doesn't matter - a singing bowl could be thought of as out-of-date, but surely it's the experience itself that counts. And honestly, the experience is truly worthwhile. Enjoy!

A Real Waste of money
I purchased a new unused Kasina that was faulty from the get go. I contacted Amazon and they were happy to replace it or refund me but I had severe health issues at that time and I simply forgot to send it back. I recently took it out again and tried it and it seemed to work okay for only a few days and just stopped working. If would work a few times and then the menu screen would go completely blank so that it was impossible to select a meditation program. Each time it went blank (even though it was fully charged) I’d have to lose 2 or 3 days discharging it and after recharging it and a lot of messing about connecting it to my laptop, it would work again but only each and every time for a few sessions only and then go blank again. When it happens, the Kasina is just a bit of useless, unusable plastic junk. I got zero help from anyone on their forum? so I recently reached out to their support, which initially appeared to be interested in helping but that now seems like they’re not too eager and I’m awaiting for support to let me know what to do next, as I’ve already boxed it ready to send to them. Many members seem to have ongoing issues with the Kasina Mindplace that include a lot of issues with updating it with the latest firmware. My Kasina has only been used a few times over about 3-4 weeks overall and is in physically immaculate condition - albeit faulty and unusable. But I’m getting the impression that if to they decide to have their fixer guy replace it here in the UK, that it’s likely to only be a reconditioned one - that BTW, doesn’t fit right with me. Anyway, I’ll just have to see if they keep their word and replace it. I sent receipts etc to them but I notice the tone of his latest reply seemed off and I got the feeling he wasn’t keen on replacing it and at best would do it under protest. So, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. When it works, it seems okay but to me (and some others) it’s backwards tech because it only connects to the goggles and earphones using wired connections, that is nothing short of a pain and a real nuisance. It’s difficult to not get the wires tangled up and pulled out of their connections because you can’t see anything with the goggles on. I really believe that by now that they should have redesigned the Kasina with wireless connections. Personally I wish I hadn’t purchased it because of the issues I’ve had with it and to have had only about 3 weeks on and off use and that cost me a whopping £360.00 which is to me at least 2-3 times more than it’s worth, is definitively not worth it. I would not buy this again and would not recommend it, as I believe there much better ways to meditate and better gadgets to use for meditation.

Would not be without it
I have suffered severe insomnia for years and about a year ago started daily meditation to help reduce my stress levels. I was therefore very intrigued by the concept after hearing the legendary Frank Zane talk about using it regularly as part of his lifestyle and training. It did seem expensive to try on the off chance and I ummed ansd ahhhed over it for a few months. Until finally deciding to give it ago backed by the 30 day amazon trial. I have to say that it has not helped me (yet) in the sleep department. However, I am so glad that I did try it as it is a really nice experience on the right programmes. I prefer the quieter and more relaxing programmes like the roaring fire which I now do instead of a meditation session. I find it really helpful in the middle of the working day even if to just dive in for a quick 10 min recharge. I was doing this with my meditations but sometimes when I am very stressed, I find it very hard to focus on just my breath etc. This is great because it allows me to be more passive and just let the glasses do it for me. The 30 day amazon trial is now up and there is no way anybody is parting me from my Kasina! I so look forward to my daily session and a little bit of “me” time. I had one issue which Mind place rectified immediately and so can fully recommend their customer service. Thanks Guys! My only reason for giving it 4 stars is that I am not entirely convinced on the robustness of the kit and how long it will last especially with regular use. I also wish the headphones had been blue tooth so less cables to worry about. If it lasts a decent amount of time I may come back and change the rating.

Incredible device. The tech feels a little dated, but that hardly matters. In a world where everything is a subscription, it’s nice to have a standalone device that holds actual files that you can use forever. It comes with plenty of sessions built in, and the forum has a community that have many other sessions available. You can also make your own, although there is a learning curve with that; but if you love to tinker, it’s great. The battery life seems pretty good - it lasts several hours before needing a recharge. It comes with a USB -> Mini-USB (not micro), but can easily be used with a USB-C -> Mini-USB cable if you want to maintain only USB-C cables. The visual experience is fantastic. Sound quality is as good as the headphones you use with it. The device comes with earbuds which are fine, but I upgraded mine to some with higher quality. But the visuals are really what makes this device incredible. It truly does allow you to hallucinate rich patterns and colors: Klüver form constants (checkerboards, fractals, etc) pop out, as well as a strong perception of impossible colors (Chimerical colors, Stygian colors, hyperbolic colors). I would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore these types of closed eye visuals and a state of deep relaxation and hypnagogia.

It is totally worth it. The second day I used it I had a lucid dream. In an other session it was so relaxing that I fell asleep.

Helps to quiet the mind, raise and expand consciousness, and open new possibilities to arise.

I’m 52, tech incompetent, and clean/sober. I purchased this as a meditation tool/ option/ variation. When I’m particularly rusty on practice or highly agitated, I need more help to re-connect with the calm. I like it. I ultimately chose this over the competitor’s device whose AVE has lots of research because I wanted more preset options to increase the odds I would 💙at least one. Plus Kasina’s device looks far more sleek/ small. I had originally intended to also buy one of the heartmath devices (which also has good research behind it) but this Kasina is so satisfying, I no longer have the desire. My favorite preset Kasina program is river & forest. I purchased the bundle with 2 types of eyewear because I had the impression one used it with eyes open and I had concerns my contact lens covered, bulging eyes might be uncomfortable in the standard frames. The instructions, however, suggest closed eyes so I do that (with contact lenses out) and it is comfortable. So the 2nd eye piece is in reserve. Yes, it’s rather pricy, although half that of another (different but similar) tool I have: a CES, the $800 name brand Alpha Stim. Also, when I think of what I pay to visit a workshop/ retreat/ counselor & duration of partaking in what I pay for, purchasing the most highly rated AVE, which with care will 🤞🏻 last many years, the $400 price tag seems less horrifying. I store all its components in a plastic shoebox for protection, near my meditation space, and rarely take it on trips (but when I do, I still pack the space hogging shoebox). I haven’t yet partaken of the other 4 program categories of mental state, but I do like knowing the Kasina has more to offer, as it’s likely that someday I’ll try & find another something to add to the repertoire.

This device comes with 2 glasses, headset, adapter and bags to hold everything. Works great. Sessions are very calming-the light show is pretty cool. You can download more sessions from their website. Also there's a forum you can join. The sound is good. The battery life seems good. Pretty easy to use.
