Fantastic thing to build
My grandson has autism and he thought it was fantastic to build and great when it started working

Good enough
9 year old really enjoyed this. It’s a bit flimsy in places but otherwise ok. A magnetic screwdriver really helps with done of the screws. The screwdriver included looks like it came from a Christmas cracker. There’s no alignment marks on the timing gears, which would have been a nice touch to properly coordinate pistons and valves, but you can still see the principle of 4-stroke operation

Works perfectly
Very clever design, instructive, educational and all parts fit together perfectly. Excellent working model. Bought 2 as it is so good

Realistic 4-cylinder engine model ... Educational fun build for older kids!
The Discovery model engine kit arrives nicely presented, with over 100 individual pieces organised in various bags. This set offers a fantastic hands-on insight into the mechanics of a four-cylinder combustible engine, making it a great gift for anyone interested in cars, motorbikes, or even motorsports or engineering. While the box suggests ages 8+, the complexity of the internal components means as a self-build activity, it is probably better suited for older children around 13/14+ years, otherwise younger ones with some adult guidance. The kit includes all the core components, such as the transparent engine block, crankshaft, pistons, moving valves, and a rotating fan. However, you will need to provide your own screwdriver and the AA batteries required to power the unit once finished. The instruction manual is a large folded sheet rather than a booklet, and while the parts are well-made and fit together securely, the build can be a bit tricky and requires patience to get everything aligned correctly. Once assembled, the engine operates at a single speed, allowing you to watch the pistons and valves move in sync while the LED spark plugs light up to simulate the combustion process. Overall, it is a very well-made educational model that provides a rewarding building experience at a reasonable price point. Recommended!

Looks good
Looks good in the box but bought as a Christmas gift and not yet assembled so can’t comment on quality.

Good but not Carling
Good fun to build but the motor doesn’t have the power to run it properly. Only works with a little help on the fan

A fab project to work on with your children
A great project to do with your kids, it’s an interactive and educational learning experience all while having fun. Good value for money when you consider the life skills they are developing.

Didn’t work!
Bought for sons birthday. Spent most of the day assembling it (instructions are quite poor but we got there). Switching it on and seeing it working was much anticipated after so much effort… only to find that it didn’t work! We put in brand new batteries, checked all the connections, but the light did not come on and nor did the engine itself! My son was absolutely devastated
