I wind up mostly using this for journaling.
I wind up mostly using this for journaling now, because it's just such a joy to write on. Honestly, there's not much of a difference between writing on this device and writing on paper. It feels pretty natural. I've not experienced any latency or anything of that nature either. So I'd say it functions better than most tablets I've tried writing on. The size is great for journaling, though, as for just reading, it can be pretty fatiguing if you're trying to read for hours on end. It's great for certain pdfs though, old school TTRPGs like Cyberpunk 2020 looks fantastic on the scribe. But I just realized this is the essential bundle! So, the scribe itself is fantastic. You can't go wrong with the charging plug, it's you know, basic kindle stuff. The case, however, I do take umbridge with, but not enough to dock this bundle any stars. I dislike how it's held in place by magnets. If this was the same case, but it had like the snug snap on plasticky bits that a regular amazon kindle paperwhite case has, then I would love it. But the fact that it's held in place by magnets doesn't feel very secure, in fact, I know it's not very secure, because I lightly tossed it onto my bed, not very far, maybe about a foot away from where I was standing, it landed on the bed and immediately jumped out of the case. It didn't go far and luckily, it was on my bed still, but that's something that a regular case wouldn't have done period. Overall, I love my scribe and I would recommend it to people who enjoy both writing and reading. I got mine on a sale, so there's that. And also, the next kindle scribes will be coming out soonish, but I still say this one is pretty darn sweet, so if you wanted to get this one, it's still worth it in my opinion.

Smart purchase
This is my second purchase (a gift to my wife). My first purchase was over a year ago. I like the larger screen as it "feels" more book like. We are 60+ and use the larger fonts. Having a larger screen doesn't make us feel like we are reading one sentence a page. I do have several older and smaller Kindles used for comparison. Surprisingly the larger device doesn't seem much heavier. While the Scribe has a note taking feature, I personally have not used it. I do like the concept but tend to just look something up verses writing a note. This light and dark mode are great for reading in bed and not disturbing your partner. My gift was a bit self-serving as my wife started "borrowing" my Scribe and I was constantly trying to remember where I had put it.

Perfect for taking notes
Works as listed and great for taking notes for work. I don't read and won't use the kindle portion but keeps my work notes together and easily accessible. Can't email my work email because you need to access Amazon for the PDF so I email the notes home and then to my work account. Easily upload the meeting notes to Salesforce and can keep on the scribe so I can always refer back to what was discussed.

Daughters favorite
The scribe has saved me from lost documents and important lists. Also great to play suduko and other write on games. My daughter loves it because she can draw and read books no matter where we are. Great on holding a charge.

A useful device, but needs some more work.
Update: I spent a lot of time with my new Kindle Scribe last night, and I am liking it better, so I am upgrading to four stars. It does take some getting used to. The issues I noted in my initial review still hold, but the note-taking and annotation functions in books and documents are helpful. It would be nice if there were a cleaner way of transferring these things to a computer. This is my initial review. I've just spent the past four hours learning this new Kindle Scribe. I've been using Kindles since 2010, so I'm familiar with much of the functionality. As an e-reader, it's as good as its predecessors, but I bought it because I wanted the note-taking functionality. Unfortunately, my expectations were greater than the capability of this device. Firstly, it is good for taking notes in the notebook mode. You can handwrite the notes and convert them to more readable text. That is nice. Amazon advertises that you can take notes on other documents, books, and so forth, and this is true, however, this function has a very awkward interface with the notebook function. You cannot convert the notes you take in a document or book into text. You can email the notes to yourself, but they go without the book or document text to which they refer. So what you get is your scribbled notes, scattered across a blank page. I have searched high and low in Amazon's documentation on this Scribe to see if I've somehow gotten it wrong, but it doesn't appear that I have. It appears that the engineers who designed this device didn't have a good idea of the needs of non-technical customers like me. It may be great for someone more tech-savvy than I. I'll likely use it for its note-taking and sending capabilities. For the price, I expected better.

Great purchase!
I have previously owned older kindle products! This by far is the best on i have purchased! Its more than just a e-reader! It has other options for highlighter, taking notes, calendar, tasks and more! Doesn't run slow and battery last me for days! Works great with no issues. The size is perfect for what I needed.

Love It!
I love being able to not only read my books, but also take notes at the same time. The scribe makes notetaking easy to do.

I like how big and nice it is. It makes reading in dim light easy. You can change it to dark mood if you need to. It is great for taken notes or to just doodle on it.
