Stinger SGP38 80-AMP Battery Isolator and Relay,BLACK

Seems all parties have been using this in upgrading to 2 batteries on their UTV SXS. Great isolator/ relay for that purpose to allow for key on circuit without tapping existing harness.

This wasn't exactly what I was looking for but it does the job and does it well. I was looking for an isolator and this doesn't really isolate the batteries until the ignition is off. I also installed this in a boat that doesn't have a true ignition source. ( push button start with a sealed switch that I couldn't break into ) I ended up running a small wire from the battery to a switch on the dash then to the isolator. I hit the switch to activate the relay. There is very little info anywhere on how this works so maybe I can help some future buyers. It is simply a relay swith. One large power wire from charging source to first battery, then another large wire from that same post to one of the top posts on the isolator/relay. Lastly you run a large power wire from the 2nd top post of the relay to the second battery. When you turn on your ignition it sends power to the unit which engages the relay completing the circuit between the two batteries, thus connecting them and simultaneously charging them. Turn ignition off and the relay disengages making it impossible for one battery to drain the other but also makes the second battery unable to be charged. ( why it needs to be a true ignition source )

Installed this isolator in my trunk to go along with a 2nd battery. The isolator makes sure both batteries are connected to each other while the car is off. If they weren't I'd eventually end up with 2 dead batteries. You can verify your connections are correct with the use of a DMM. While the car is off, check the voltage of the front battery and then the 2nd battery..the results should be different. Yet when you turn the car on and do the same check. You'll have the same voltage on both batteries. Front Battery + to Stinger Circuit Breaker (inline fuse) to isolator located in the trunk. The other terminal will connect to another Stinger Circuit Breaker. Which then connects to the positive side of my 2nd Battery. Isolator has 2 more additional connections. One goes to ground, while the other can go to a multiple of locations. I have it connected to my fuse panel with the help of add-a-circuit.

Works exactly as represented and was an excellent value for the price! I installed this device to allow me to parallel the house and chassis batteries in my motorhome. I also added a diode-isolated "manual override" switch which allows me to operate the Isolator in an emergency to jump start my generator from the chassis battery or jump start my engine from my house battery if one battery dies. Also, I have a third diode-isolated trigger from my ignition which allows me to charge my house battery from the alternator when the motorhome's engine is running. Product was delivered on time and was very well packed. Buy this one with confidence!

Added a second battery to my fj cruiser and wanted to isolate the house battery when the engine was off so that my starting battery would be fresh to start, this is well made and works perfect.I added a switch inside the cab so that I can also shut off manually

Easy install used it to power my viair compressors on my truck

Habe mir das Teil gekauft, weil ich beim anderen Auto beide Batterien so gekoppelt habe und die sich mit der Zeit gegenseitig kaputt gemacht haben. Hinterher ist man immer schlauer... :-) Aber das wird jetzt mit dem Trennrelais sicherlich nicht mehr passieren. Auch das anschließen ist super easy, wenn man weiß wo man sein Zündungsplus abgreifen muss, damit es schaltet. Alles in allem ein kleiner netter Helfer der die Batterien länger leben lässt und man nach einer gewissen Zeit Anlage an nicht mehr irgendwo steht und der Anlasser keinen Mucks mehr sagt. :-)

Unless their claim is about the combined load of both batteries to be at 80 amps total, I wouldn't trust the ratings at all. I have a two 80 ah dual agm setup and the relay gets considerably warm during operation and my relay terminals literally melted, inspite of the connections being screwed tight. I'd advice against it, if you are even planning basic dual battery setup.
