Is the handle sealed or is it unfinished wood?

It appears to be sealed, however, if you are asking because you want to put it in the dishwasher there is simply no need to do so. Running this whisk under hot water after use is pretty much all that is needed to clean. Everything comes off so easily. A once over with a soapy sponge or dishcloth and you're done. Even a swish in soapy water will do the trick.
