Update: ordered 2 of these and this is a follow up after many hours of use. I was tired of the plastic case units that eventually would break a tab or not stay open, then there is the issue of extremely low transfer speeds. No more, got this unit and the transfer speed is excellent. The case is solid metal and offers great protection and a long life. Bought two of the 128GB and couldn't be happier. Update to address some of the negative reviews. 1) This does get warm. That is good, all chips heat up. Plastic case units do not radiate the heat and it is retired in the chip which can shorten its lie. A warm case means it is acting as a heat sink and protecting the unit. 2) Yes it is a bit slippery, but there is a loop in the top where to can attach a thin lanyard or loop if needed. I have no problem with it. 3) Compatibility. I have used this on MACOS, Windows Linux and IOS devices, both new (2 months) and old 6 years and have no issue with compatibility. Keep the unit formatted as ExFAT and you shouldn't have any problem. 4) Speed. The USB slot you plug into will control the speed. Use a USB3 for maximum throughput. Don't blame the flash drive if you are seeing slow speeds on a USB2 slot. 5) As with all flash drives, keep them away from static, don't use them as a hockey puck and keep them dry. Bottom line: This is a very good Flash Drive

Works as it should and was great bang for the buck. Interesting shape and decent size. Seems to write plenty quick enough; and I've never noticed any heat, though I don't overly tax it. A good basic backup device.

Probably the best flash drive I’ve ever owned. Write speed, build quality, longevity, it checks all the boxes. I purchased this in February of 2023 for $18. I went to buy another in May 2026 and it’s now $40. Unreal.

I really hope I never have to amend this review. Just started using it an hour ago, but so good I had to share. For background, I got this to replace my Sandisk Ultra, a plastic USB3, that i think died early due to heat, as it is only 1.5 years old and used rarely. This comes formatted to exfat in one partition. I think this is best for Windows and Linux compatabilty as well as speed. Using Linux DISKS... benchmark, as new, did hit 400 mb read and 80 mb write speeds. Real life, a 20 gig file transfer never fell below 65 mb/sec. The maybe scary part. After writing 50 gig, in 20+- minutes, it was really hot. I think little girl fingers would not want to touch it for more than 3 seconds. This could be good though. I am hoping Samsung used the aluminum case to transfer heat away from the internals, which is my best guess as to why the Sandisk died. If not, this one may also die a premature death. For background, I use this for Ventoy, allowing me to run, test, backup, restore and repair Windows and Linux systems with or without a working hard drive. Pretty tough given daily use connected to tv playing videos for the kids. Doesn’t heat up too badly and hasn’t failed yet.
