One of the advantages of a set like this is that if you know what book(s) of the Bible are being covered on Sunday morning, it's only necessary to take the one or two that are specifically covered. This is easier than toting a full Bible. They're also very handy for taking notes during the sermons. I am very pleased with this set. They're formatted and organized nicely, they're convenient, and they aren't cluttered. They are ideal for those that like to dissect Scripture or like to write down thoughts or notes about a passage. Review: ESV is often identical to well-known versions memorized years ago - This is a nice set of 19 spiral bound Scripture books with ample room for note taking. The lefthand page has the passage, the righthand page has a very faintly lined page so light that you can easily ignore the lines and write whatever size you want. If you choose to follow the lines, you will find they are spaced every 7/32” and the lines are 3-3/4” wide. There are 30 lines on a page. There may be a few blank pages at the end of each spiral bound pamphlet (but the quantity of blank pages is not related to the size of the book, e.g., Mathew has 1 extra blank page, but the Colossians/Philemon book has 4 extra pages). It would seem like a longer book would have more blank pages (so that you continue from some note from the middle of the book at the end). When I say “blank” here, those have the same faint lines (except on both sides of the sheet). They come carefully packaged in a sturdy product box from the publisher, which means that they are likely to arrive in nice condition, no matter what kind of packaging Amazon uses to ship them. These journals are printed with the text on the left side of the book and lined journaling pages on the right. This series does not include study notes, or even basic footnotes, and just has the text of Scripture and basic section headings. The formatting and font size are comfortable and easy to read, especially in comparison to the cramped, double-column format that most people are familiar with from other Bibles. These journals have nice quality spiral bindings, and the pages turn easily. The paper looks nice, and is much thicker than in standard Bibles. However, it's still thin enough that most gel pens will bleed through onto the text on the other side. The covers are thin and flimsy. These cheap covers pass savings onto the consumer, since if each book in the series had a sturdier cover, the cost to buy them all would be exponentially higher. However, people should be aware that the covers are basically just thick cardstock, and that the journals are floppy and bendable. Most people will want to lay these on a hard, flat surface before writing in them. The thicker books in the collection are more durable, but this New Testament set involves many very thin, small ones. These will show wear very easily. This set will appeal to people who like Bible journaling, but who feel reluctant to write in their traditionally bound Bibles or feel that there isn't enough space available in journaling Bibles.
