Lots of reviews on cheaper TPU tubes talk about how they don't hold air well. These are doing just fine for me. One thing to consider is that the stem is plastic and not threaded, so if your road pump wants a threaded stem like mine does, I'm not sure they'd work for a spare.

A couple of rides and got a flat. OK that happens, especially with a TPU, fine. Added a patch but then started the problems. The valve is made of plastic, fine when you are at home with a great pump, not at all on the field. Using my mini pump, a bit of side movement bended the valve and you cannot pump well. As it gets harder to pump and it is moving around, the valve ended up breaking. The TPU may be fine, but plastic for the valve is gonna be a no-no for me moving forward.

I have a complicated relationship with these tubes. They're actually reasonably puncture resistant, but I have issues with the valves. The plastic stem didn't seal well to the tube after a while on one, and the other one got a tiny hole in the stem while I was inflating it. The weak valves are a problem, but I will admit they have good puncture resistance. I ride on city roads with broken glass big hops and gravel with gp5000 tires. I ride 50 miles a week in these conditions and a tube has lasted 3 months on other occasions.

I've had good experiences and bad experiences with these tubes. The good is that if I get them installed without issue they are noticeably lighter than butyl tube and tend to not get random punctures. For races they have been great. The bad is that the area where the valve inserts to the tube is pretty bad and either can leak or in one case just pulled right out when removing my pump. It's a roll of the dice. I think I would continue to use TPU but keep a butyl tube for my backup, as they're a little too fragile to be changing with a hand pump on the side of the road. All in all I'll probably spring for more expensive TPU tubes if I can see that the valves are higher quality.

I installed these on my bike the day I received them, which was yesterday. I decided to put a 30mm tire on instead of the 28 I installed because of a long bumpy ride I had on Saturday so, I removed the tire and found a terrible manufacturing defect. All I did was install this and ride 200 yards to feel it. When I took off the tire this morning, check out the photos for what I saw. So glad I decided to change my tire this morning or I would have suffered a flat . Where they joined the tube it is about to blow. I only put 64lbs of pressure in the 28mm tire so it's not because of over inflation. I have bought 6 of these tubes, now I am going to check my other tires for this defect. I have them on 2 of my three road bikes. Update on the second tube. The valve stem was broken. Done with this company, sending them both back.

I've purchased and ridden on several of these Spingo TPU tubes with plastic valve stems. The last two I used went irreparably flat after one ride each. The first one didn't hold up to being inflated by a hand held pump and the valve stem cracked and leaked as a result. Irreparable, recycled. The second one had a defective valve stem or valve stem installation to the tube right out of the box and slow flatted. Irreparable, recycled. I'm still riding on these tubes, so not giving up completely, but I don't think that the stems are real world tough.
