This project is awesome. I get great reception on my icom 52a plus anniversary or my yaesu ft-70d. The antenna is very pliable, and it works well on both of these radios. It is a great addition, swapping out from the original antenna that it comes with. For this price point, you can't go wrong. It's from a very trusted manufacturer, if you're familiar with comet, their products are by far some of the best on the market. Their innovation and technology is superior recommend this tenfold.

Awesome antenna. I also bought the spring insert. One clarification, that took me forever to figure out, was that if you buy the spring insert, YES, YOU CAN STILL FOLD DOWN THE ANTENNA. I have it mounted on my FJ cruiser roof, and folded down, with a three point magnetic base, it is 6 inches high. My roof rack is 7 inches high, so perfect to provide extra protection to the antenna when going through trees and brush. Update: put it to the test recently off-roading. Smacking trees hard, with it up. most of thr time with the spring it just bent and returened to position. The three mag base I have pulled up before the antenna bent. Also, works fine when it is laying horizontal for most purposes. Obviously, straoght up it gets better reception, biy for like driving, with two vehichel communication under a mile or two, no problem on vhf, uhf, gmrs.

Just read the performance specs carefully before you buy. Covers whole VHF band nicely. Only covers the upper end of UHF which is where most repeater work will take place. The lower GMRS/FRS band is reasonable but the upper end of GMRS where the repeater are starts to hit high SWR. Seems to work ok there, I don't do much GMRS while mobile but like to have it for emergencies. But to note, I found the published specs close to accurate and it is not advertised for GMRS bands.

AAA+ Antenna!! This antenna was a replacement that i had for over 3 years. I forgot to lower it and it got broke in a parking garage. This antenna works great with my Kenwood TMV-71A. Mounted on the rear hatch of my jeep. Had reports while on simplex of great reports over 40 miles. I also purchased the spring unit for said antenna. Haven't had any issues as of this writing.

This Comet CA-2X4SR antenna is connected to my TIDRADIO TD-H3 radio. It works so well for RX and TX on 2M, 70cm, and GMRS frequencies with very low SWR (1.1 or less) that I bought two antennas. I use one as a mobile antenna and the other as a base antenna. This antenna also works well as an airband RX antenna.

Great working item. One of the best for frequencies and cost.
