It's not pristine. In fact, it looks a little dusty and a tiny bit beat up. But that adds to the charm. I use it to store my phone, remote control, mini ipad, etc. so my large puppy won't find and chew these things up (as she already has many times). It's heavy and perfect on the end table!!!

Pretty box, but the metal is not attached to the top or the sides. This leaves sharp edges and the appearance of a wavy surface. It was not packaged in anything but the Amazon box, so it should not have been sent to me. I should have read the reviews before purchasing.

I already have one of these I found a few years ago and wanted a new one. I was disappointed when I received this because the workmanship was unacceptably poor. The front clasp has changed. On my original, it is secured with two sturdy screws. On the new one, there are four tiny screws that were sloppily put in on angles and thus misaligned the mechanism to the point where it only allowed the lid to close unevenly. It was an obvious assembly defect that should have never made it past quality control but did. The rear hinges were not much better, installed unevenly with little care. As a result, there was a gap on one side when the lid was closed. The top surface was badly scratched as well, as if something abrasive was placed on top and dragged across it. My original does not look distressed, this one does. Bubble wrap was placed around the box and was in good condition so it obviously was wrapped already defective. I returned this, and judging from some Amazon Warehouse sales that disclose similar defects, this was not a one off. The manufacturer needs to clean up its act and stop sending out obviously defective pieces.

Love the look and design. Worth what I paid for. Great for storing my pillboxes and over the counter meds/pills etc. Sturdy. Well made.

Great box very roomy but not overwhelmingly huge.holds. my mail and pens ..etc. very pretty and stuy I cant say how many times the cats flung themselves across the coffee table and shoved it off..:-)

Perfect, well built box. Using it as a keepsake box to store a pair of champagne glasses to pass on to our son to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary (in 32 years) that my husband and I used a year ago with the glasses that his grandparents used 26 years ago on their 50th anniversary.

Exotic look. Average quality. Black "soot" gets all over your hands. Price too expensive.

Very disappointed.
