I had a Kobo Clara Color, and just ordered this and passed off my color to my kid. I love these e-readers! The fact that I can check out library books directly on the device though Libby/Overdrive is amazing. They're also working on being able to buy ebooks through bookshop.org so I can support my local bookstore, which I'm really looking forward to. As far as actual use, this is everything I want. Simple, functional, and much lighter than carrying a pile of books with me. Plus better for my eyes and headaches than reading books on my phone, and I don't find myself getting distracted by all the other things on my phone. I can't recommend this highly enough. Only issue I've had is it freezes up every couple days and needs a hard reset, holding down the power button (the ink screen won't change) then turning it back on. I figure any device needs to actually be turned off instead of just sleeping occasionally. And it's never been an issue resetting it. The BW also freezes a bit less often than the color, and loads a bit faster. The color is fast enough for my kid who likes to zoom in while reading graphic novels, though. Battery lasts almost forever if not back lit. I leave it on as low of brightness as I can manage with the sliding bar, usually 2-3%, and that gets me at least a few days of reading between charges, usually not like a week or two, and I don't have to think about adjusting the brightness to read at night. I got both myself and my kiddo a sleep/wake case, which works great. Definitely prefer this over a Kindle.

I LOVE my kobo!! This has to be one of the best purchases I have made recently. The user interface on the device is straightforward. I really appreciate how much you can customize it. I haven’t decided on a screensaver yet but I’m so excited i can do that. The screen quality itself is beautiful. I heard that the color can get grainy so I opted for the black and white version, the text is CRISP. This has made a tremendous difference in my reading habits, I cannot express how much I love using my kobo. It is the perfect size in my opinion. It’s sleek size, lets you carry it everywhere with ease. I find myself reaching for it day and night. I toss it in my bag everywhere I go. On that note too, it has a large setting for brightness and warmth. The trick of sliding up or down on the left side of the screen makes it so easy to transition on days I read morning to night haha. I can’t put it down. Truly, such a great device. I have enjoyed this so much and strongly urge you to get it too! It has made reading more fun for me. Having access to Libby/overdrive on there too just makes things so accessible. It took me a while to decide on buying this, an e reader in general. I wish I did this sooner.

Coming from a 10th-gen Kindle that's been around the world with me, I finally decided to break away from the Amazon ecosystem—ironically, while buying my new e-reader on Amazon—and I have not been disappointed. I bought both the Kobo Clara BW and the Kobo Libra Colour. While I really loved the Libra Colour and its extra features, I realized I couldn't do the PDF work on it that I originally thought I would. The screen was also noticeably darker, which resulted in me keeping the brightness turned way up most of the time. On top of that, the clarity of the Clara BW absolutely blows the Libra Colour out of the water. Text is incredibly crisp and easy on the eyes. Battery life is exactly what you'd expect from a black-and-white e-reader, and I have zero complaints there. Surprisingly, I also LOVE the 6" screen. I thought I would prefer the larger 7" display, but the Clara's smaller size makes it incredibly comfortable to hold and read on for long periods of time. It's quickly become one of my favorite things about the device. The build quality is also great. It feels solid and rugged without feeling overly expensive or like something I need to baby. The power button being on the back is a HUGE plus for me as well. With my Kindle, I would occasionally hit the power button accidentally, and that hasn't been an issue here. After about five years of barely reading, I've finally gotten back into it, and I couldn't be happier with this device. So far, I haven't found a book I wanted to read that I couldn't either find on the Kobo Store or sideload myself. If you're looking to step outside of the Kindle ecosystem and want a simple, compact e-reader with an excellent screen, great battery life, and a little more freedom over where your books come from, the Clara BW is an easy recommendation.

I love my new Kobo Clara black & white! I was a hold out pgetting an ereader for a very long time. I love the feel of a book in my hand, turning the pages and putting a bookmark in to hold my place. I finally became convinced to try one. Then, I couldn’t decide if I wanted the Kindle Paper White or the Kobo. After watching/reading many videos/reviews, I finally chose the Kobo and I’m very pleased with it. First, I have arthritis issues in my fingers/hands. Holding this ereader is so comfortable and easier than a physical book. It’s lightweight and small enough to hold in one hand…..a big help when my hands are in pain! Second, I thought it would be a pain turning the page and waiting for the next page to appear. Not so. It’s very quick. Almost seamless imo. It really makes the experience of reading smooth. Additionally, you can change font and size. Lastly, I don’t disturb my husband who is usually trying to sleep when I’m reading.🙄 You can adjust the light and I have mine set to darken at night. Still easy to read in the night mode. Since I have the black and white version, there is no color. I don’t read children’s books on it or comic books so I didn’t feel I needed that. I don’t care if the cover is in black and white. If you do read children’s books or comic books and you like to see the covers of your books in color, then maybe the color versions would be something you may want. Had it for a week. Very good. Great battery life so far. It has ghosting, which is when a previous screen can be seen in the background, but personally I don't mind it. The reload and page turns are fast. Except when it comes to typing. The screen is crisp and easy to read for its size. I made some personal adjustments to the text so it's more pleasing to my eye. This is a more expensive purchase for me, but I feel like it is a good investment as it's helped me read more.

Bought this because we didn't want to be stuck in Amazon's ecosystem Kindle. We had tried it out, but Amazon is horribly intent on keeping you locked in. Great product, great feel, and very durable. There is a warm/cool adjustable slider, which we LOVE. (Amazon's basic Kindle doesn't have that.) Kobo does want you to buy their books, but they are definitely less pushy than Amazon. Plus, these are waterproof! You can shower with them, and they'll be fine. Great visibility. It is slightly less clear than the Kindle, but it's a sacrifice we're willing to make to get out of our Amazon dependency. We also bought this because we wanted to read Libby/Overdrive books without having to press Read through Kindle (which you have to do on a PC or phone app) and get stuck in Amazon. The Kindle is not self-standing - you can't take out Overdrive books straight from the Kindle. An additional benefit is that in our library, there are more EPUBs available then Kindles. It's seamless to borrow EPUBs with the Kobo, so we're looking forward to that. Rating this 4 stars because I would like the option to get rid of Kobo recommendations and force-buys on the home page, but a million percent better than the Kindle.

I absolutely love the Kobo Clara BW. The 6-inch screen is incredibly sharp, and the glare-free display makes it feel just like reading actual paper, even in direct sunlight. It is extremely lightweight and comfortable to hold for hours, and the battery life is insane—it seriously feels like it lasts almost forever on a single charge. One of my favorite features is how easy it is to sideload and add my own books directly onto the device without any hassle. Something that I cannot do with my Kindle. The ComfortLight PRO is also a game-changer for night reading, automatically shifting to a warmer tone so it doesn't strain my eyes. If you want a dedicated, distraction-free reading experience, this is easily one of the best options out there.

My first e-reader! No forced ads, waterproof, warm light and dark mode options, ability to adjust brightness by dragging finger up the margins of the page, syncs to Libby app for library reading, reading syncs to storygraph app. Perfect portable size and very easy to set up and use. It's so much easier on my eyes than a phone screen. The screen is not as responsive as a phone, but it only takes a second to load the next page and doesn't feel laggy once you get used to it. Very happy with my purchase!

Es mi primer lector así que dudaba un poco pero la verdad que es increíble. La tinta se ve perfecta, de verdad parece que miras un libro y no te cansa. Además el material es bueno y el tamaño es el ideal, un poco más grande que un libro de bolsillo. La respuesta es muy rápida y es muy fácil transferir o comprar libros.

A mí parecer es superior a la Kindle, se ve y se siente bien, la batería es una locura, dura hasta 2-3 semanas encendida sin problemas, definitivamente compraré la siguiente Kobo!!
