Super Comfy Shoes
This represents my fifth or sixth pair of Merrell Moabs over the years. I've had both the waterproof and ventilated varieties, and I often have one pair of each. This, however, is my first pair of Moab 2s. Clearly, I like the Moab line, and one of the main reasons is the straight-out-of-the-box comfort for which Merrell is renown. There is no break-in period with these shoes. You can put them on and know your feet will be happy. There are a few things I would recommend however, based upon prior Moab usage. One of my other reasons for buying these shoes again and again is that they last a long time. The soles are rugged. They do not wear out whether I am hiking mountains or just doing the daily urban hiking of a walking city like New York.Always unlace the shoes to take them off. If you pull your foot out them all the time without unlacing, the cloth at the back of your foot by your achilles tendon will wear away and the padding behind it will be visible and become loose. Also, there is something about the laces that makes them susceptible to becoming untied. If I don't double knot them, they come untied more so than any shoe I have ever owned. Maybe the laces are coated to repel water or something, but I definitely recommend double knots. Lastly, if you want to keep your waterproof Moabs waterproof, I recommend using a waterproofing product at least one a year. That is a standard recommendation given by manufacturers for most waterproof gear, but I've found that my feet stay dry in these shoes if I re-waterproof them annually.Even with the preceding recommendations, I wholly recommend Merrell's Moab line. If the Moab 2 is as nice a shoe as its predecessors, I will be enjoying them for a long time.

UPDATE - FALLING APART AFTER 2 MONTHS - Not as Wide as the "Old" Moab - same size may be too tight
The old Moab (not the Moab 2) was considerably wider. If you have a wide foot and you like the "old" Moab you may not like the Moab 2.With the exact same sizes of Moab vs. Moab 2, the Moab is wider and more comfortable. My Moab 2s aren't nearly as comfortable as my Moabs due to the 2 being narrower.YMMVUPDATE,The shoes are falling apart after only two months. They look new but the soles are coming off. These are junk compared to my old Moabs (NOT the 2). Stay away from Merrell. They went down the tubes IMO. VERY DISAPPOINTED. :(

As I hoped for...and much better...survived Andes Mountain hiking
Out of the box and onto my feet...perfect fit and have broken them in already with 2-3 days walking around. they were actually perfect out of the box. So...now after a 2 week trek in Peru, Bolivia and Chile I can say that these shoes are awesome. they were super comfortable, did not tire out my feet, fit perfectly. they held up on rocky and uneven terrain and held grip on slippery surfaces, wet rock conditions, sand, broken rock climbing, shallow stream beds. They were waterproof for sudden shallow submersions, held up on a really rocky, sharp rock area. These gave some insulation in snow in the Bolivian mountains and gave excellent traction on ice and wet surfaces. Love them! My wife bought similar in women's style and felt the same. These were inexpensive in comparison to if they didn't work and my feet suffered...Merrell shoes are absolutely unparalleled in outdoor footwear.

These shoes are like walking with bricks on your feet
These shoes are like walking with bricks on your feet. I would be returning them, but missed the deadline. Very stiff shoe, not much padding. The left toe box doesn't fit well at all. They feel smaller than the Merrell 13 W pair I have. They are water proof. Not easy on your feet at all. 13000 steps in these shoes is all my feet could take. Very stiff, clunky is the best word I have for them.

Moab 2 dry are amazingly good for their cost
I took these Moab dry to the pavement in a "road test" vs 2 different running platforms, an Asics Nimbus gel which is a supportive platform and the Nike ultra light Free Run. All 3 tests took some seriously uphill 600 ft elevation climb approx. on sidewalks and blacktop. I preferred the Merrell Moab 2 to both running shoes - the Nikes faired worst (more about a handicap later) and the supportive Asics were also quite good. A later "waterproofness " test in forest puddles and mud for a short distance, my feet were dry.I am handicapped by an accident with an abnormal gait on one side. I just recently began walking seriously again, including light off-road gravel roads, ski trails etc. The Moab 2 dry are amazingly good for their cost, dry feet and good balance so that they feel light on foot, in fact they feel heavier holding them then when they are actually on your feet. Disclaimer, I have not used for longer distance than 4 miles and hiking Stowe to the top of the Gondola (didn't make it to the chin of Mt Mansfield however). Thus I cannot comment on normally longer distances. My handicap needs work yet.

Junk! Don't buy.
The right sole completely separated from shoe! That's horrible quality from a Merrell product. If I still had the box, they would be coming back to you. 2 months old!

Extremely disappointed
Bought these because they offered a wide fit version. Distraught, so much money for extra width, yet they are narrower than many standard size shoes.

Not True To Size
They were too short. Also, I doubt I found have found them comfortable. I could not exchange for the correct size through Prime. The return was easy. The credit fast.I was snarffled into Prime. We'll see.Ultimately I bought my size in another Merrill at a local store where I also tried on my size in the subject shoe. In this case and the future, I will shop locally for shoes even though the selection is limited. Merrill sizing is not the same for 11.5.

Comfort
I have had about 10 pairs of these boots as they seem to be the widest fitting bootThey are probably the most comfortable short hiker I have ever hadThe waterproof is mediocreThey last me about 6-7 months then loose some of their rigidity and support - which is a shame as the boot upper remains in good shape and the sole is in good shape tooI do wear them every day all day for yard work and walking and just out and about so really given they last 6-7 months that is not bad value for the comfortHighly recommend for large people with wide feet!
