It works well once it's setup, but getting it to that point was a hassle that involved multiple computers.The software does not work on Windows 11 and for some reason requires an internet connection to open, despite not being signed into any account. It freezes upon opening, it freezes upon inserting a device into the computer and the one time I actually got it to read the device it froze on uploading the configuration. All of those freezes required a force close to remedy.Ultimately I was able to get the Mac software working on another computer and get the devices configured. The app is available on the AppStore but involves a third party download from the web to actually work which is concerning.The configuration is just a matter of syncing the time, date, start delay and temperature logging interval. Once all of that is set you shouldn't have to interact with the barely functional software any longer. From that point it's just a matter of plugging it into any device and opening the PDF or CSV file of the recording interval.My last complaint is the large plastic lid protecting the USB plug works to slowly leverage the device out of the USB port. Further the already wide foot print of the device may makes it very difficult to fit into an available USB port if other things are plugged in or space is limited. With the rubber lid doubling that width and providing additional frustration in connecting the device to your computer. The thought of a directly connectable device is good, but the execution so poor they should have just included a USB-C port and short cable to connect the device to you computer.

Software dead. cannot configure without software. this is a Brick that was mailed to me.

Out of the package, this left me a bit confused, but thankfully there are only two buttons on the logger. The included "instructions" give you a QR code for all of their different models. Out of the box, my device was configured at UTC+0, record every 10 minutes, and start recording after 30 minutes. Plugging the logger into my computer gave me a PDF with the results and a CSV file with the raw data. The software (available on the website) allows you to change some of the parameters such as the time zone, the rate of logging, and how quickly it starts to record. You can also add a name for the logger which will show up in the generated PDF. The accuracy seems decent; I changed the recording frequency to once every two minutes and I was able to chart the temperature of my fridge and see what the temperatures were and when the compressor kicked on to cool things down. This is handy for monitoring temperatures (such as making sure that food doesn't rise above the threshold where spoilage would become an issue), and by moving it around I can test different parts of my fridge and freezer to make sure there are no warm spots.

I would not have bought this if I had realized that prior to purchase.Why not make a way to configure it that isn't dependent on one specific platform?

On the hardware side, this is a nice device. Well made, easy to read, easy to use.On the setup side things were a little sketchy. The enclosed page directs you to scan a code for your device model to get instructions. That didn't work, to me a not authorized page or something. So I went to the company home page and found the link for the software. That gave me several more warnings about unknown source, unauthorized security certificates, whatever - I'm not a computer expert. All I know is that at every turn my computer was warning me not to proceed with the software install.The software interface is very bare bones but does it's job effectively. You can set up preferences for your device with a number of options around sampling rates and such. When you plug the device in after it has collected some data it immediately opens up with a really nice looking graph. Clicking on to the next tab will show you a list of all the data points. It looks really nice.The one drawback I found is that the "Export Data" button only let's you export as a PDF. I would expect a bare minimum feature of any data logging device would be to export the data in some sort of format that could be opened and manipulated. I didn't spend a lot of time looking for it, I just assume that if it's not an option under "Export Data" then it can't be done.I'm not super familiar with the market for these devices but it seems like a decent value if you don't need data export. I do not, I'm just using it to double check temperature curves in a couple of my vivariums with sensitive inhabitants.
