This plain flour by Amazon was great. It’s cheap, good quality, and worked perfectly for what we needed it for. We mainly used it for our Gousto recipes and had no issues at all. It behaved exactly as plain flour should, no surprises, no problems, and good results every time. For the price, it’s hard to fault. Simple, reliable, and I’d happily buy it again.

Plain flour is one of those staples where the product itself should be invisible, doing its job reliably without drawing attention in either direction. Picked this up as a straightforward bulk buy to keep the baking cupboard stocked without paying a premium for a branded alternative that in most applications makes no discernible difference to the result. The 1.5kg size hits a practical middle ground. More than a standard 1kg bag without committing to the larger 3kg formats that take up considerable cupboard space and can absorb moisture over time if you're not getting through them quickly. For a household that bakes regularly but not obsessively it's a sensible quantity. Performance across standard applications has been consistently good. Used it for shortcrust pastry, a basic white sauce, pancakes and general purpose thickening and it behaved exactly as plain flour should throughout. The texture is fine and consistent, it incorporates without lumping in a roux and produces a clean result in pastry without any grittiness or uneven absorption. Protein content sits at the expected level for a plain flour, sufficient for the applications it's designed for without the higher protein content of a bread flour that would affect the texture of pastry and batter work. It's not a specialist product and doesn't try to be. The packaging seals adequately after opening though transferring to an airtight container is worth doing for anything stored longer than a few weeks, particularly in a kitchen with any ambient moisture. Reliable, fairly priced and consistent. Exactly what a basic flour should be and nothing it shouldn't.

I cannot get over the price of this flour by Amazon The current cost 73p, yes you read that correctly, under a pound. Flour is flour, but it is nice flour, no mites with a long expiration date. For vegetarians as well. Excellent value. Thank you Amazon.

not being a baker or a cook, i have found this to be fine, no issues with quality or taste when used in food (crumble and Yorkshire pudding mix) will buy again
