**Q: Does it come with a metal bracket for mounting?**
A: It comes supplied wit some screws and a small L shaped bracket.

**Q: Is this filter housing Bisphenol A (BPA) free?**
A: The NSF 42 Certification in the User Manual does not help to answer this question. "The NSF/ANSI 401 addresses the ability of a water treatment device to remove up to 15 individual contaminants..." **Q: can you bypass the filter once it is installed?**
A: No. The filter should be installed after the main valve to the residence. If you want to bypass it, you have to add another valve.

**Q: Is there a way to know if the filter cartridge needs replacing by looking at the cartridge?**
A: I used this on a well system. The way i new to replace the filter was if the filter had turned a dark grey color. For my use, this was approximately once per month. An average 5 micron filter is all you need, typically.

When we moved into our new home, the water quality was noticeably different than what we were used to. The hard water was so bad that we were actually driving back to our previous house just to shower until we found a solution. Installing this GE whole house filtration system along with a water softener completely changed our experience. We've been using this system for well over a year, and it has been reliable from day one. I use the GE Premium replacement filters and replace them on schedule every three months. The water tastes better, there is no noticeable chlorine odor, and it gives me peace of mind knowing the entire house is being filtered before the water reaches our faucets and appliances. One feature that really sets this system apart is the GE SmartHQ app. It does much more than simply notify you when it's time to replace the filter. I can check how much water we're using, monitor the filter life percentage, and even place the system into Vacation Mode when we're away from home. The built-in leak detection and smart monitoring provide an extra layer of protection that many traditional whole-house filters simply don't offer. The clear filter housing also makes it easy to visually inspect the filter, and changing cartridges is quick and straightforward.
