I like that it has grids on it so that you know where certain size puzzles will fit. There is a plastic cover that fits over it, but I haven't chanced it with my two kittens, as there are gaps that I'm sure they would find too irresistible not to squeeze into! However, if you have a respectable, well-behaved cat, or no cat, the cover means you can leave your puzzle out without it getting dusty, or losing pieces from it. I'm currently doing a 1000-piece puzzle, and it easily fits on one half, so I can fold it in half, preventing kitten destruction!
