Pattern 8155 Stuffed Bears with Clothes Sewing Patterns, White

I bought this pattern five years ago and had mislaid it until last week. I'd made dolls before, but never a bear and chose this design because of its old-fashioned charm. I have to agree with other customers with the pattern being a little tricky, particularly the top of the feet, which I had to sew on by undoing the inside legs seams. It took the whole day, but I eventually managed to finish a lovely bear in Disney fabric and look forward to making more with different materials in much less time! If you're a beginner, I'd advise that you watch Youtube videos on bear making, specifically one using a similar pattern to this and make a practice bear from scraps to learn from any frustrating mistakes. I stuck the pattern onto some craft card to make it more durable, especially as I intend to make a few. In all, a nostalgically designed pattern at a good price.

So most of this pattern was easy to follow and carry on with, but then I got to the feet. I haven't finished because I can't honestly wrap my head around this part of the bear and I really wish there was a video tutorial on how to do it! I did make the rest of the bear, and I used cotton for the material which seems to be an okay choice. I was making more of a decorative bear rather than a cuddly one so I wasn't too worried about the fabric factor. In good conscience, I have to say that I wish I had researched more pattern types, as the incomplete bear meant I had to put this project on hold until much further notice. I had planned them for a gift so I needed to redo that idea. I would give it overall a 3.5 as 75% of it was doable for me.

After buying a 2 piece pattern I thought I would try more pieces for a memory bear. After struggling with “piece 11” like so many others I emailed simplicity USA directly. They told me that both pictures and instructions for step 12 & 13 were the wrong way round. Even with this added info it was still a little difficult to see how this piece 11 was attached. This picture attached shows the edge of the piece marked in yellow which has to sit along the bottom of the leg seam. The leg seam at this stage is not closed so is one straight edge. Piece 11 will fit with some squishing along its “hook” edge to the bottom of the leg. It does look a bit strange but lining up the dot you can see how the excess fabric will give you a “foot” top. There is no apparent YouTube or written instructions for this so I hope it helps someone else!
